I realize this might sound ridiculous to many, and mainly only apply to Christians, but here's a different perspective, from a Christian and a U.S. citizen (also, I got this from a friend of mine, so these aren't original):
A few thoughts on Osama:
I deserve death as much as him. (Christian theology of being a sinner)
"bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who insult you and persecute you" (Jesus, according to Luke)
“Do not rejoice when your enemy falls, and do not let your heart be glad when he stumbles.” (Pro 24:17)
Remember the overwhelming majority of Muslims condemn Osama too - he does not represent them. We must all the more love Muslims.
This does nothing to solve any problem - expect even more intense retaliation.
America has failed by perpetuating the useless cycle of violence and we can expect many more of our brothers and sisters to die.
"our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms." (Eph 6)
"Blessed are the peacemakers"
9/11 survivor: "I just can't find it in me to be glad one more person is dead, even if it is Osama bin Laden.”
"our citizenship is in heaven." when the values of my true citizenship in heaven clash with the values of my citizenship on earth, I side earnestly on the side of the Kingdom
like I said, just another perspective...
