Work in one school in the countryside on Fridays. There's only 1 bus that goes there (takes about 40 minutes). The bus only comes once every 3/4 hours, so I've been told to catch the one at 8:12. So, I've never arrived on time for school.

People are trying to improve their own lives... not ruin others.... you just can't see it that way.

Except, by complaining you DON'T improve your own lot. You just bring everyone down to your own level. What a small minded, self-destructive and bitter outlook on life. Are you an adult or a child? You signed the contract. You knew what you were getting into so you forfeited every right to complain.

My principle seems pretty laid back but i have only just started. Gonna wait until I get told I can leave early, just to be on the safe side =]

"If you're thinking of re-signing, don't be late (or on time and they think you're late). I saw a copy of the foreign teacher evaluation/recommendation for resigning floating around somewhere and among the questions it asked were if the foreign teacher was late, if so how often; how many sick days did they use, etc."

I would like to get my hands on an English version of this if possible.  Anybody know where I can get one?

It depends on your coteachers and who catches you. Last year I came in on time/slightly late because of waiting for the bus, and I was told by my co-teacher to get here earlier. For an entire year, I arrived 20 minutes early. My coworkers changed, and are pretty lenient. They will show up late on days they don't have first period, or we don't have classes because of some activity, so I don't feel bad about following suit. Some days, the principal and vice principal have caught me.

The key is to never act/look guilty. If you get reprimanded, apologize profusely and don't do it again. Having a good excuse helps, maybe you were out a second to go to the convenience store... The most important thing is to make sure it does not interfere with your classes in any way. Don't be late, be prepared and you will not have to worry about if they will resign you or not (if it's outside your performance, probably financial stuff).
