I am starting a Bush thread, if you have anything funny concerning Bush, or the White House please post here.  Hope it doesn't offend anyone, this is mainly just for humour.

Here's my link as contribution to the thread:

There are just so many: ;D ;D ;D

Bush:

"The goals of this country is to enhance prosperity and peace."—Speaking at the White House Conference on Global Literacy, New York, Sept. 18, 2006

 Bush:

"And I suspect that what you'll see, Toby, is there will be a momentum, momentum will be gathered. Houses will begat jobs, jobs will begat houses." —Speaking with reporters along the Gulf Coast, Gulfport, Miss., Aug. 28, 2006

Bush:

President Bush: Peter. Are you going to ask that question with shades on?
Peter Wallsten of the Los Angeles Times: I can take them off.
Bush: I'm interested in the shade look, seriously.
Wallsten: All right, I'll keep it, then.
Bush: For the viewers, there's no sun.
Wallsten: I guess it depends on your perspective.
Bush: Touché.

—Exchange with legally blind reporter Peter Wallsten, to whom Bush later apologized, Washington, D.C., June 14, 2006

Bush:

"If the Iranians were to have a nuclear weapon they could proliferate."—Washington D.C., March 21, 2006

Bush

"I'm honored to shake the hand of a brave Iraqi citizen who had his hand cut off by Saddam Hussein."—Washington, D.C., May 25, 2004

 Bush

You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror."—Interview with CBS News, Washington D.C., Sept. 6, 2006

I can't resist Bush Bashing.

The Dumbest Things President Bush Said in 2005

http://politicalhumor.about.com/od/bushquotes/a/topbushisms2005.htm

"Because the — all which is on the table begins to address the big cost drivers.

For example, how benefits are calculate, for example, is on the table; whether or not benefits rise based upon wage increases or price increases. There's a series of parts of the formula that are being considered.

And when you couple that, those different cost drivers, affecting those — changing those with personal accounts, the idea is to get what has been promised more likely to be — or closer delivered to what has been promised. Does that make any sense to you?

It's kind of muddled."

-- Explaining his plan to save Social Security, Tampa, Fla., Feb. 4, 2005

That makes sense - I think!

I'd agree with you, but It's somewhat of an understatement. :D

I am not sure if you've heard of Galloway, but I love this guy.  He's part of the Respect party in England, and has much to say about Blair, Bush, and the lot:

If you have more time, there's a very good debate between Galloway and Hitchens:

Thanks for the clips. I had seen Galloway in front of the Senate, but not the debates.  Boy, he tells it like it is. I enjoyed the debate, too. Have you ever read any Hitchens?

I haven't had the chance to read anything from Hitchens, and I think acquiring any good English books that have been recently published is nearly impossible in this country, unless you're in Seoul.

From his arguments and Galloway's (in the debate, and during interviews) I would venture to say that they both make much sense, however Hitchens' arguments lack the same humanity Galloway presents in his ideas. He is a lot more theoretical, while Galloway is very pragmatic about the issue.  I tend towards agreeing with Galloway; even though there may be humanitarian benefits accrued from the war in Iraq for some Iraqis, the fact that so many deaths have ensued from this war hardly supports the actions of the U.S government.  This is the outcome of placing one's ideology before human welfare, and because of this many people see the U.S government as a vehicle of mass murder.  If you take into account that Bush and the gang have invaded Iraq not even for ideological reasons, but simply for profit on a personal and multi-national scale, then the picture becomes even grimmer.

I somewhat feel bad for Hitchens though, he's trying to get a point across but he's seen as being part of the Bush clique (so to speak).  I think he realizes the situation he's in, where he can't justifiably support the idiotic and greed driven policies of the U.S (in light of their real motives), but finds threat in Iraq, and Iran.  What can you really do in that sort of situation?  I don't blame his frustration, but quite honestly I think he should consider re-evaluating his views and joining ranks with Galloway.  Two giants on one side could help topple a reign of deceit.

I started this thread originally because I do really enjoy the Bush bashing.  Perhaps because I find myself wanting to kick him violently at any moment in time, and this presents itself as a good substitute. :D  ;D

Nothing to do with Bush (I'm a little to disgusted to find much of anything funny) but for books, www.whatthebook.com will get darn near anything. The price (when I bought in the store in Seoul) wasn't horrible - I would say it was about the same in won as it is listed as Canadian dollars, more or less.

I haven't ordered, so I can't speak to speed of shipping, but when I do run out of stuff to read here, I'll do it for sure. Also, you can get subscriptions to magazines through them and they will send it to you each month. About the same as the cover price of the magazine US, but I'm pretty close to saying that it is worth it.

I just took a look, they even have books on QM and AI.  Thank you :)

Regarding Bush, I agree with you.  It's also very easy to make fun of him, but my laugh is more of an expression of hope that others see the real conditions and are pushing for some change.  I still can't fathom how he's still in power though.  Perhaps too many people are making jokes instead of pursuing more active methods.

Glad the link was helpful!

I was one of the people who said that if Bush was re-elected, I was leaving the county.

In terms of "how can they re-elect this moron," well, fear is powerful, and so is faith. Bush appealed to people who are afraid and those people for whom their faith is the most important element in their life. And for those folks, logic and reasoning and everything else just isn't quite as important as those issues.  I'm not saying it is right, but that what it is for many folks.

The fact that his popularity is incredibly low is at least a sign that maybe things will be getting better. Maybe.
