Hello.  We (at the last minute) would like to travel to Sokcho for the weekend.

Has anyone ever been there?  What did you do there?  What were some "must see " things to do?

Also, does anyone have any reccomendations for places to stay?

Thanks so much.  Any advice would seriously help out!

Seoraksan is a must see if you enjoy national parks and hiking.  It's reasonably priced and a great experience.  To get there, you can take city bus 7 or 7-1 from the Sokcho Express Bus Terminal.  There's more details here -> http://www.visitkorea.or.kr/enu/SI/SI_EN_3_1_1_1.jsp?cid=264211

I don't have any recommendations for hotels, but if you enjoy the 찜질방 (sauna), they have one close to E-Mart.  I hope this was helpful.

Definitely go to Seoraksan.

Also, House Hostel is arguably the best place in the city to stay. It's run by a remarkably friendly guy, whose name I forget (I think it might've been Mr. Yoo), and it's immaculately clean. Rooms were 20,000 for a single or 30,000 for a double. Big, comfy western-style rooms, too. Also there was free internet and free breakfast and coffee.

It's just a few minutes away from the bus station to Seoraksan as well as the bus out of the city. And close to one of the seafood markets (where the crab and sea urchin are phenomenal).
