Almost all the songs listed are great. Not everybody is going to like song - that's a given.

There's one major issue with the list that nobody has pointed out (correct me if I am wrong)
- All of the songs are in ENGLISH (except La Bamba!)

How the hell can Rolling Stone justify that? It's not a list of 500 greatest English language songs cos then La Bamba would be cut!

Where on earth is this classic number?

Hehe.  I'm starting to wonder why every thread on here is turning into a male vs female/korean vs non-Korean/religious vs atheist/people who fear diabetes vs rational individuals debate.
Preference in music is completely subjective.

Okay let's compare two songs from approximately the same time period.

"Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan (one you listed)
"Tiptoe Through the Tulips" by Tiny Tim.

Can you imagine someone, anyone that would honestly think that Tiptoe was the better of the two songs?    Seriously?

If you can't, then how can you say it's entirely subjective?
Learn to read.  I said preference for certain songs is subjective.
I maintain that trying to rank the "greatest" songs ever is a farce.  There are simply too many factors to form an accurate list, bias towards one's preference in music being just one of these.

Published lists like the Rolling Stone list, &c., aren't by any means intended to be definitive. They're just conversation fodder and efforts to boost web traffic and increase sales.

Can everyone stop being so touchy about people discussing music with a little passion?

Before I came to Korea to teach I made some extra money -- my day job was being a lowly editor -- by writing for small-print and online music/entertainment sites. Most of it was just ephemeral writing about what songs/artists piqued my interest and where they fit in a cultural or historical context. Actually, I usually just took a few paragraphs to say I really liked something. There was never much use wasting ink or keystrokes on anything that didn't interest me, and I never tried doing anything as dumb as declaring so-and-so is the best or this-and-that is purely such-and-such but not that other thing. (Unnecessary blog plug: rock-o-clock)

Anyway, long story short, there's no use whining because someone addresses a topic of interest with a little fervor and really wants to turn it inside-out thinking about it. And there's definitely no sense complaining about a list about the 500 greatest whatever because nobody with any sense really thinks the criteria and judgment is impeccable to begin with.

Also, I'm still waiting for cowboyshirt to contribute something constructive. Unless trolling is a valid train of thought...?
