especially relish.
I couldn't even think like this if I wanted to, so I had a moment that I never would have engineered in my whole life, but I'm not gonna lie and say I didn't enjoy it. too many sweet pickles on this one!!
I work in three schools and my role is different often from class to class. In one of my schools, I asked for and took lead in many of my classes because last year I just stood around and waited for them to ask me to repeat something for the class to echo and I hated it. Tell me, how many times have you been thrust in the spotlight of the classroom and asked to perform without preparation? Many Koreans seem to think that our classes don't require preparation.
I teach 5th grade during 3rd period. ten minutes before 1st period I told my "favorite" KT that she was leading the game today. it was a powerpoint game that I pulled off waygook and it looked easy enough to play but the point scoring was a little complicated. I took and failed pre-algebra 5 times in college, so I just turned it over to her and asked her to run it. I downloaded it onto her desktop giving her plenty of time to glance it over. I saw her eyes widen and the tremor of shock when I asked her please to run the game, so I was sure she understood.
well, come class time, she suddenly realized what I meant by will you please run the game today? suddenly the tables were turned and she had to step up to the plate. I considered for a moment backing down and taking the game, but I thought, this game is so easy, the kids could probably run it. and whether she really understood me or not, its an excuse that never worked for me before. So I made her run the game. she faltered once or twice, appealed to me for help. This woman is a great teacher when she is running the show, I knew she was fully capable of running this game. I supported her but made her do it.
I didn't-- couldn't -- plan that ever, but I sure did enjoy it. every second of it.
