Here is a game I made to test their knowledge of flags. There are also questions thrown in to use the "Where is your classroom?" with tall buildings from around the world. The rules are on the third slide.

This will use the different forms of the "be" verb and continents so you should review them before the game. I didn't care about spelling mistakes with the country names either. They were also allowed to write the Korean under if they didn't know the exact name.

Great PPT....except...there is no continent named 'Oceania"...Australia is in...Australia!  Oceania is a football confederation NOT a continent!!!

For anyone else who loves animaniacs video posted earlier, I'm attaching the link to the HQ version of it.  It sadly doesn't have the list of the countries, but I'm hoping to fix that over the weekend.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYwyODsQ7do&playnext=1&list=PLB5DE29861A5026E9

Here's my contribution for period 3 reading.

Sentence Jumble:  Divide the students into groups if they aren't already.  Each group is given a set of words that allow them to make up the sentences dealing with country and what floor.  Everyone is given 30 seconds to make one sentence.  At the end of those 30 sec each group reads aloud their sentence.  If they are the only group to have the sentence they get a point.  If 2+ groups have the same sentence they don't get a point for that round.  The group with the most points wins of course. The goal is to be creative as possible.  As long as it is a grammatically correct sentence they get the point.  And the period is necessary for the point.

examples of possible sentences:

Ann is from Canada.  Minsu is from Korea.  Tan's classroom is on the fourth floor.
Nami lives on the tenth floor in Vietnam.   Ann's classroom in Australia is on the eighth floor.
Thanks for the sentence jumble idea.... was trying to think of something for the reading unit, this sounds great!

First, these slides address the meanings of ground floor and 1st floor in different countries.

Second, the slides include an activity in which students work in pairs to label who lives on what floor of an apartment building (book characters).

My students worked in pairs and really enjoyed the activity. There was nearly 100% participation and high level students helped many lower level students.

Here's a powerpoint to explain the error in the flashcards at the back of the new book. For those unaware, that is NOT the England flag, it is the UK flag.

This isn't all right "The term is sometimes used more specifically to denote a continent comprising Australia and proximate islands[3][4][5][6][7] or biogeographically as a synonym for either the Australasian ecozone (Wallacea and Australasia) or the Pacific ecozone (Melanesia, Polynesia, and Micronesia apart either from New Zealand[8] or from mainland New Guinea[9])."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oceania

I've heard it be used for the whole geographical area because most people forget the other areas around Australia are also included in the continent Australia (or whatever the case may be)

Hi for our lesson we are making a passport and as a little extra I added this boarding pass. My kids level is very low, some don't even go to Hagwons  :o

I also want to teach the kids "Where are you going?" Just to have a bit more conversational practice with them.

So we'll make the passports and fill in the boarding pass, then my co-teacher and I will be attendants and ask the kids: what's your name, where are you from, where are you going. In the box on the bottom right hand side we'll give them a stamp if they get the questions right.

Feel free to modify and re post if you like, just wanted to share  ;D

Where are you from Guessing Game, have the students guess the country with the picture clues before all the picture clues are revealed.

Playing cards for Link Nations and Where in the World included.
I laminated the cards so they can be used again many times or you can just stick the pictures to cardboard paper.

Link Nations
Each student will get a card with a country on it, after revealing your secret country do not tell anyone – NOT EVEN YOUR FRIENDS!
Then when the timer starts go around the room and link arms with the others that are of a like nation by asking them:
 “Where are you from?”
First nation to get all their citizens together first or before the timer stops WINS!
GOOD LUCK!

Where in the World
In pairs you will give each other clues to guess what country you are.
To play you will receive 1 of the country cards we studied.
Then you must guess the country by asking your partner things such as the continent, language and famous things from that country.

Example: Are you in Asia? ---> YES
        Is hiking popular? ---> YES
Do you like Kimchi? ---> YES
             Are you Korea? ---> YES

Here is a Carmen Sandiego game I threw together. The ppt is just the instructions.

1. I give each group 3 clues to a country (flag colors, a famous food, and a famous landmark - not in pictures but in sentences to make it a little harder). They have to guess what country the 3 clues are from.

2. Once they know the country, one person in their group must come up to me. I ask them:
"Where are you from?" and they must answer their current country
          "I am from Korea"
then I ask them
"Where are you going?" and they must answer the country based on their 3 clues. "I'm going to France."

3. If France is the correct answer based on their 3 clues, then give them the clues from France (which will point to yet another country).

4. The team who 'goes to' all the countries first is the winner. The last country should contain the card: You found Carmen.

I hope this makes sense...I'm getting tired.
