Wow - thanks so much! I've never had students clap after a lesson before. I never thought that a lesson like this (no grammar point to teach, etc. ) could work, but it was great!
Anyway, I went ahead and embedded the youtube video of the dove commercial into your powerpoint, so I'll repost my version in case anyone wants it.
I also added some more Korean translations of things in the ppt (like the country names), as well as some extra slides in the "beauty in other cultures" section including a couple more tribal things, american rappers' grillz, and some stuff from extreme body modification subcultures including subdermal implants, crazy piercings, and injections of saline solution to create giant forehead lumps -lol. I made those additions because I noticed how much of a kick my kids got out of the tribal lip discs, and I thought they might enjoy some other weird stuff.
I also added a backside to the worksheet originally provided which includes a section matching country names in English to the Hangeul, which I've attached in case anyone wants 'em.
Thanks again for your great lesson! It was so rewarding to actually commincate a worthwhile philosophical concept to my students!
P.S. I encourage people to use "youtube downloader," a software application that allows you to download youtube videos into files with any extension you want. I use it so that I can embed videos from my powerpoints that are stored on my own USB, so I'm not dependent on the internet.
