Here are some flash cards for Lesson 2.  Just print out and use them at the beginning of class as a warm-up/review.  Low level students need constant review and you shouldn't have too many ppts per lesson.  Happy Teaching!

ppt for period 1 of this lesson. 'pass the puppet' game at the end. pretty self explanatory...have them play in teams, start with one team first and have them pass the puppet around until the music stops. the person holding the puppet must look at the screen and make a sentence or whatever, then i have the group say it together.

ppt for period THREE of this lesson. my kids loved the last one, so they pretty much begged me to play this again. slides are of different pictures though and i added more expressions.

'pass the ball' game at the end. pretty self explanatory...have them play in teams, start with one team first and have them pass the puppet around until the music stops. the person holding the puppet must look at the screen and make a sentence or whatever, then i have the group say it together. viola!~

for period 4 of this lesson. it's an unscramble game...i split the students up into 6 teams and give them each a piece of paper. they must look and try to unscramble the word or sentence before time is up. FYI, these are sentences, words and expressions that they have been practicing all lesson, so they should know it. i make each student in each team rotate turns writing during each round so everyone gets to practice writing. the others can help them with the answer, but they cannot write. my kids went bananas over this and they are fairly low leveled

PS- props to whoever made this template

Sorry a bit late, but this was an activity that I used with my co-teacher and it went very well.  We began with a 4 line dialog:

A:  What class do you have on Monday?
B:  I have English class on Monday
A:  Do you like English class?
B:  Yes I do. / No I don't.

After we drilled the dialog with the students, we put them in partners and provided them with the attached file.  The students take turns trying to guess each others 'dream schedule.'  The student with the most points at the end of 6 rounds get a sticker, or some other kind of bonus (depending on your school's system of positive reinforcement).

The kids are fairly advanced so the sentences are a little different from the key expressions in the book. The format was explained beforehand. "I have (subject) on (day)"  usually; there are some question sentences in here. Each group had a whiteboard and marker and they had to work as a team to unscramble the words to create a new sentence but in whispers so the other groups couldn't hear.

The running dictation. One student from each group has to get up and these sentences are posted all along the wall in different areas according to how close the tables are. They're placed far from their own tables and then they memorize the first sentence. Then they go back and the person sitting beside them will write down the sentence. When they're done, the person who srote will pass the book and go memorize the next sentence. Keep rotating around until the whole group has all the sentences. Every member's hands are on their heads so let the teachers know they are finished.

Two PPTs. First is for going through the spelling for the days of the week, I then do either a spelling bee or spelling race (two students writing on the board - first to do so gets a point) after.

Then a speed game, where they go round in a circle (in their groups), and say the English word when shown the word in Korean.

Thanks for the worksheets! This was a bit silly, but my students found it helpful to think of "Monday" as "One-day," "Tuesday" "Two-day," and "Friday" "Five-day" as a way to remember the days of the week.

Pass the bomb game.  I have two balls/sticks being passed around.  The two students RSP - winner asks the question and the other replies.

here's a starcraft bomb game that I tweaked to incorporate all of the target language from units 1 and 2.  It's great for review and my Ss didn't want to leave my class!

Also have a bomb game and a battleships game where they have to say the sentence to select the desired square.

Lesson 2: Do You Have English Class Today?
« Reply #172 on: April 11, 2011, 06:22:21 PM »

This is a fun and catchy song that might leave a student or two left singing the parts well after class.  Most of my classes had fun with this.

Also, check out this game.  I discovered a "Mallet" game online and modified it to fit this lesson.  Th students have to quickly say the key expression, Teacher - "Do you have math class today?" the student must remember and look at his/ her school calendar and determine if math falls under the day that is today.  The teacher will knock the student on the head with a toy hammer if he or she can't answer,   The student version should be displayed on the screen.

Re: Target Language Outlines
« Reply #177 on: April 12, 2011, 10:53:21 AM »
So, my school asked me for this for their meeting with the superintendent. It's mostly from the outlines at the beginning of each chapter, but I also skimmed through the lessons for target language that students should be learning.

Hope this helps ease the pain of anyone else who needs this in the future.

Thanks for all the posters! Glad I can contribute...ya never really know what someone else can use.

here are a few more detailed lesson plans for Grade 5 Unit 2 to supplement what you've already doen.  I'm posting them for the same purpose.  Hope someone can find them useful should an admin request them last minute!

Here is game called Mexican Wave. Each student gets a card with a word or words on it. Using the PPT when the sentence comes up students have to stand up and create the sentence if they have those words.
We made it into a competition on who could stand up first (as more than one student had the same word/words).

Hope you like it!

I played Timetable Bingo for this chapter. I gave all the students a blank timetable and made them fill in 5 different subjects for each day. Then said "I have ......... class on....................." They should cross them off if they have that combination. You can have a winner from completing a day or the whole timetable.
