Here is a more detailed lyrics' worksheet for "I never go to work" song - there are lines added so that students can write Korean translation. Also, a Go Fish game cards with subjects and days of the week. If printed on A4 and back has fish jackets, after lamination paper is not see through. Also, does not take too long to make. I made sets of 4 on different colored paper to divide class of 22 students into 4 teams.

+added: Kaboom game - question strips. Cut up, put in a can of Pringles and make students pick and answer/fill in the blanks/spell. Points are on the strips after questions.

(WORKSHEET CORRECTED PER NOTE BELOW) *^^*

How did you have them play go fish? Did you have them draw cards from two different piles i.e. Subjects and days? or did you have it all combined? After they get a pair do they lay it down or? How long did the game take?

A memory game, students have to figure out what day of the week is missing from each slide. I used this as a review and they loved all the different pictures.

One word search puzzle and one crossword puzzle.
This is really easy material and should occupy about 5-10 minutes of your class time.

Answers to the crossword puzzle (in case my clues are too ambiguous)-
Across 1. Mathematics, 3. History, 6. English, 7. Cooking
Down 1. Music, 2. Korean, 4. Science, 5. Sports

Here's a vocab presentation ppt and a memory game ppt.  The vocab one covers days of the week, a couple different subjects, dialogue from the CD and shows how to make sentences about different school subjects and days of the week.

The memory game shows a big timetable which you can cover or navigate away from, then ask the students questions about it.  For example:

T - make a sentence about science
S - I have science second period on Tuesday

T - make a sentence about Friday
S - I have science first period on Friday.

T - Do you have Art class on Monday?
S - I have Art class fourth period on Monday.

My students really took to it, I was surprised by how accurately they were able to use the target sentence.

Here is a ppt my CT made for the vocabulary. It's really cute.
Also I've included a game. I'll try to explain it so it doesnt sound complicated (my students liked it a lot):

Have the students sit in a circle in the floor. Choose someone to start and ask "Do you have class today?" Pull up the first screen to say "I have ___ class today (1)". Ok, the (#) is how many students must stand up to give the response. So, in this case one student would stand and say "I have math class today". Then, the next slide will be "I have ____ class today (2)" So two students would stand up. ]

It goes something like this: 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 2, 1.....I occasionally throw a 4 in there to keep them on their toes. The catch is, if 3 students are supposed to stand, but only 2 do, then the one who hesitates is out. We played until there were only 5 students left, and they were the winners. You could play til one winner, but the ones left are pretty good and may take a while.

This game sounds cool, but I'm a little confused about how it works.  Say a slide with, "I have English class today. (3)" pops up.  Three kids are supposed to stand up and say that, but which three kids?  Any three?  What happens if four stand up?  If fewer stand up but no one "hesitates," does that mean no one gets kicked out?

This is just a quick puzzle game - should be fairly self-explanatory.

I thought this would take them ages, but every class finished in about 5 minutes or less so don't be expecting to get a full lesson out of this.

I used this for Period 3, as it's really a kind of reading / comprehension exercise.

I took the mini story with the cats and simplified it because my students are very low where I teach!  I took out some slides and the mini book now has bigger print.  Here it is in case someone thinks they can use it.  Thanks whoever first created the cat story, I love it!!

great tune, but think twice about using this.  i wanted to use this last summer.  my korean co-teachers liked it musically and thought it was funny, but looked a little bit askance because of the message of the lazy boy . . . never going to work, and all.  i ended up not pushing the matter.

Well, you can do it one of two ways. If someone is 'out' then start on a slide that is a (1) and the student who would be next after the out student goes. Or, (3) students stand up after the out student. If someone is supposed to stand and doesnt, or if someone stands when they are not supposed to, they are out.

If my coteacher agrees, I hope to use the song "What's Your Favorite Subject?" from genkienglish.net.  Click here:  http://genkienglish.net/schoolsubjects.htm The full song is available on that page, not just a little sample like most of their stuff.

Thank you so much teacher_del, my kids LOVED this song, I have never seen them get into it so much. They even requested I play it during break times and they danced around to it, it was hilarious!

I've also been using this one, as it's super speedy and easy for my low-level kids:

Use code WAK323 for $5-$10 off your first order at iherb.com. Oats, dark chocolate, polenta... nom.

Here's a Sonic Game that I made for English reviews. The content in this .ppt is for this lesson, but you can easily change the content to fit any lesson from any grade.

Basically if you've played BAAM or the Mario game, it plays very similarly. Sonic characters and themes are used. There's plenty of variety to keep students interested.

Instructions:
-Split the class into two teams.
-Have the students raise their hands and answer the questions.
-They can be rewarded with rings (points), or if they get a character that matches their team they can steal points from the other team.
-The team with the most points in the end is the winning team.

I hope you enjoy using this game!

I spent many hours making this...having grown up as a Sonic fan I couldn't help but do my part to combat the recent Mario efforts.  ;)

Glad you guys like the game! Cheers.

@JC49: Well, you know in reality...Sonic did come after Mario...and his games were very similar...history's just repeating itself here. ;-)

I googled "How to teach days of the week spelling" and I found this ppt. It's really good for spelling acquisition, I'm just trying to find a way to make it more "fun", maybe with a worksheet they have to fill out simultaneously or something. Anyway, enjoy!

BAAM Game someone posted here before maybe... But updated a little to make it match the lesson more.

Had to modify this post because I tried to upload my tweaked version of the Sonic Game, and someone it ended up attached to this post. Nice work to the make of the Sonic Game. A few changes to the questions and the character points page. But 85% the same.

[Mod - Sorry Wretchard, I just realized you had a Sonic game attached to a post that I split off.  I moved the sonic game here.]

Here is a Laser, Hearts and Bombs game for "Story Time".  It has a bunch of unscramble questions and few questions about the story (sorry, there wasn't much to work with).  Make sure to substitute your name in on the 12th slide and to change the day on the 19th slide.

Who am I? 2 - disappearing words
« Reply #79 on: March 25, 2011, 06:18:55 PM »
This ppt goes with Storytime 2 on page 28.

Breaks down the story and then eliminates words by level until there is only one word left in each sentence, see who can keep up. Obviously after the "LEVEL ONE" slide they should have their books closed  ;).
