youtube?
« on: March 25, 2010, 01:16:05 pm »
Hello,

Has anyone been able to show a youtube video successfully? I tried to 'create a webpage' but when I do that there's no sound. And if I have a game on a website, how do I get the student to see and hear the game?

You can try downloading the videos from Youtube and playing the videos in your regular player.  There's dozens of services and add-ons that do that (none of which should cost anything).  You can even convert the files to a format that Powerpoint recognizes (.asf, .avi, .wmv, or .mpeg) and play it directly from the slide.  If you're on a school computer and don't want to install anything, get a portable version from portableapps.com which you can run from a USB stick or put in a temporary directory.

As the previous user mentioned, there are many ways of doing what you need with youtube videos.  May I ask, what Operating System are you using, and what browser?
Carpe PM... ZzzzzZzzz ZzzzZzzz.

I'm running XP and using Chrome...I managed to get them working, had to go into control panel and change my default speakers from the ones in my classroom to the headset. I have a class today so we'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the responses

Hey Mokpo Brad,

You should also be aware that when you play youtube videos through the live meeting via "share webpage" the video will load and play on each students computers seperately, so if they have slow comps or slow internet connections, they may have to wait a little while for it play all the way through. This also means you can not pause the videos on their monitors or adjust the volume for them. If the students aren't getting audio but you are, this is an issue with their computers, not yours.  :)
