Teach Vietnam

vmitch87:
I've been looking into new teaching possibilities once I've finished my current contract in Korea.  I've never travelled to the country before, but have heard there are some good teaching jobs there. Does anyone have any insights or experience regarding teaching ESL in vietnam?

beaniemaz:
I'm bumping this up because I would also like some information on this. I have heard it's best to just arrive in the country and search for the jobs once there.

globetrotter.2011:
I am also interested if anyone has any information.

currently living in Hanoi, after three years in Korea.Worlds different to Korea. I suggest having a CELTA or a Trinity tesol if you want job at legitimate language school. But be prepared for work on either Sats or Sundays.
Public school gigs not really available, possible through some agents, but class sizes 50 and up and often no assistant.
Living costs ,cheap
tons of western goods available
Visa- come on tourist ,find a job ,company will do work permit, have CPC.
Truth of the matter?Korean kids are tons better, tons! here, if you want to earn a decent salary , you have to teach the private route/international schools for Viet kids/language centres and the clientele is your nouveau riche bratty kids. gggrrrrrrr...

Oh, wow! Thanks so much for the information, I guess not every school is going to be the same but that doesn't sound encouraging haha! I thought there would be more public school positions like here in Korea. 50 kids per class is a lot!!! So, what are the benefits of working in Vietnam?
