baking a brownie with a rice cooker
« on: May 17, 2011, 03:42:24 PM »
This might not work with smaller rice cookers with just one button. :(

ingredients :

1 &1/2 paper cup of "쵸코 핫케이크/ choco hotcake/ chocolate hotcake power" which you can easily find at bigger grocery stores.

2 soju glasses full of milk

3 bars of chocolate

1 egg

1 spoonfull of butter

1. Break the chocolates into small pieces. Put the chocolate and butter together into a microwave's container and put it in the microwave for 1 and a half minutes. Mix them well and cool.

2. Put egg and milk together into a bowl & stir. (If sweeter taste is desired, put in honey or sugar at this point)

3. Put 1 into 2 and mix.

4. Put pancake powder into 3. Mix well.

5. Grease the rice cooker bowl thoroughly with butter. Add nuts if desired. Add 4 and bang the bowl few times to get the air bubbles out.

6. Press cook. Poke with a wooden chopsticks to find out if its done. Depending on rice cookers, you might have to cook twice. It might take up to 30-40 min.

I love your measurements! "1.5 paper cups" and "2 soju glasses of milk" - it made my day
I think I'll have to get a rice cooker just to try out this recipe...

Yeah, I donno about your measurements, but my gf made me a rice cooker brownie before. It was good, but it basically was cake, and the middle was a little wet (not gooey) because of the condensation dripping from the top of the rice cooker.

Homeplus now has powder mix for brownies from TESCO for 3,000 won. Makes a good amount. If you hit the 멘유 button a few times to get to the 케익 option, you can cook it in about an hour with just 75ml of water. It even had chocolate chunks in it! To get it thick, I ran it through two cooking cycles and used the minimum amount of water.

Hope it works for you!

Actually I made the best brownie ever a month ago. Its super healthy and all it took was 5 mins in the rice cooker.
The rice cooker jumped after 3 mins - but let it cool down a bit and then press the button again and let it cook for a further 2 mins.

I used:

1 cup unsweetened apple purée/sauce ( I bought a jar of apple puree from E mart)
1/3 cup cocoa
3/4 cup self-raising flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup sugar ( I added honey to make it healthier)
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
3/4 cup (70g) walnuts, chopped

1) Place apple purée in a medium-sized bowl. Sift in the cocoa, flour and baking soda. Add the sugar and salt and mix until just combined. Do not over-mix as this will toughen the brownies. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and the walnuts.

2) Transfer the mixture to your rice cooker bowl. Cook the brownie in the rice cooker.

The outcome was amazing..so amazing I ate 3/4 of the brownie and was sick the next day  :'(
