however i feel as foreigners we also need to stick together because the bottom line is we are not Koreans and once we start throwing people under the bus we will never be a strong community...
Let's throw out the garbage to make our community cleaner, and thus stronger.
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me.

I have just one thing to say: this is probably the most over-the-top stupid thing I've seen a foreigner do in my three years here. I can't even think of anything that comes close to this level of stupidity. That is all.

Ye a lot of you guys who have said he is a teacher, in retrospect, you are absolutely right. If a teacher did this at home he would certainly lose his job and wouldn't be allowed to teach again. Although this absolutely DOES NOT make him a sex offender. When we become teachers we take on responsibilities that come with it.

To the person who mentioned about the family dinner on the weekend, ye this will suck for you, and suck bad. But I think it needs to be explained to Korean people that YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. There are so many employers here who would rather get some kid straight out of high school with no life experience never mind teaching experience and has never had any real responsibilities as it saves them $300 a month. Even the public schools are apparently doing this now. Well guess what? If you pay for a load of fresh high school graduates to come and live in your country this is the type of behavior you will get. And this isn't just the fault of the employers. The parents are taking and paying for their kids, as young as 3 years old to be put in absolute care of these people. I would never give my 3 year old child to someone to care for 7 hours a day unless I knew exactly what qualifications they have and experience. I imagine, I hope, this was the case here. I really hope that no experienced teacher would be that stupid.

When Koreans start employing and paying for professionals this is what they will get, and if a Korean person judges me because of this person, to me that is their problem, as I don't have time for someone who is that judgmental. Luckily, it is actually very rare that this happens.

NMonk. Excellent point. I've posted this on another site. It shocked me when this happened.

4 years ago, I was living in Incheon. On a Saturday morning, I was on my way to work (Korean office job back then) and I got to the subway station. I heard this  "Hey...Hey dude!" I looked around and didnt notice anyone at first. Then again..."Hey...'bro." And I saw this toothless guy with a long-red ponytail sitting in a cab. He was wearing flip-flops, straight up ugly. (White guy). He had a BROKEN half full bottle of soju in his had and was sitting int he front seat of a taxi.

He slurringly asked me. "Dude..how do I get to so and so...I'm teaching my buddies kindergarten today. How do I get to ...?" I was in complete shock! This guy is going to cover classes with 5,6,7,8 year olds? Holy flaming monkey crap do education standards for people teaching need to be raised. I wanted to know (maybe he was lying..Do you teach there? "No dude, I'm an elementary teacher" he said.

That...sucks.

The guys who are talking about the fear of nudity? What? Seriously? The guy looks drunk off his **** and is naked just to make some kind of idiotic statement. I'm pretty damn sure he is not thinking along the lines of "God, I feel oppressed in these clothes. I'm going to live like man truely should and be free of my restrictive garments! I am one with NATURE!!!!"

I think his line of thought is probably more like, "Dude, let's TOTALLY show off our junks to the camera. I DARE you." "No way man...." "I'm doing IT! I Rule!"

This guy was an idiot YES but i just see so many people on here that are just jumping on a lets hate him bandwagon... We have all done things that would not be appropriate for children to see and yes most of us would never go as far as this guy... however i feel as foreigners we also need to stick together because the bottom line is we are not Koreans and once we start throwing people under the bus we will never be a strong community... Let what ever course of action that happens take place but don't try to influence it especially in a negative way.....

I know this will stir up some emotions but i think there are other side of this that most people aren't looking into...

Respectfully Mr. S
We need to stick together to an extent.  But if you do something stupid, I'll be the first to disassociate myself with you.  I'm not sticking up for anyone's stupid behavior simply because we have the same color skin.  I think you're right that Korea needs to get over some of their prejudices, but also we as foreigners need to regulate ourselves in a sense.

Why the moral outrage about a naked man??? My dog is naked everyday.
The Koreans can judge him according to their law. He is just yet another dumb young man who possibly has drunk too much and behaved stupidly, hardly big news in any country. Or are we all just  being racist because he is white and not Korean? Why no moral outrage over Korean's peeing in the street?

At the end of the day all you can do is lookout for yourself and your friends. How Koreans perceive foreigners is, as it seems, totally out of our control. There will always be idiots pulling silly stunts that will make the Korean news.

Worry about yourself, and the people you surrond yourself with.

Goodluck to the rest^^

Because generally they're performing a bodily function and 99% of the time you can't see their genitals.  Also, people don't take all their clothes off to pee.

I know what this guys did was wrong, and I'm not advocating it.  Yes, it paints a bad picture of waygooks,  but at least he was not flashing  young kids and touching himself.  :o  So i don't think that it is fair to compare him to a paedophile.

Of course he was loaded and I'm sure they they did it on a dare too. Fear of nudity is targeted at all the people losing their minds over this incident on this thread. I'm not trying to insinuate that this guy was trying to make a moral statement. Far from it. It's the swift reaction (by some) to condemn this dude as paedophile that makes you wonder where these sentiments are coming from.

The guy is a tool, I think that's clear enough.

But I don't know why people here are so scared of the Korean perspective of us that they are actively trying to bring this guy to justice vigil anti style (name and shame, petitions etc).

If you wouldn't sign a petition or get uber-moralistic over a Korean getting his lad out, then any justification that you would do it to a foreign native teacher has sinister undertones.

Calling the guy a sex offender is beyond the pale, by the way. Seriously, grow up. He'll probably lose his job as a teacher, the same would happen to a teacher in the UK without a doubt. They sacked a woman teacher in England a few months back over some racy (but non-nude) photos in Facebook. But anyone who would actively wish to see this eejit go to jail over this is being prude in the extreme. I think losing your job, getting fined and screwing up your chances of ever getting another visa is about punishment enough.
It is no measure of health to be well-adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

Baseball is a boring spectator sport. That was probably the liveliest event of the entire game.  :D

If he gets in trouble, so be it. Sign a petition to condone it? I'm not sure that's necessary. People who are going to make sweeping generalisations about foreigners based on such events will and have already done so in the past. Anyone else with with half a brain would not make generalisations from the individual to entire cultures. If it gets to the media, let it run its course. Drawing further attention to it will only lengthen negative sensationalism.

doing this in front of the child, even if it wasn't intentional, will get you thrown in jail and listed as a sex offender for the rest of your life. That is what would happen to this idiot back in the US.

That's an outrageously draconian law. I've been naked in public places a few times. I'm over that now and I'm glad I didn't get photographed like this fella. I'd say that's acceptable in the UK. We have some pretty good streakers too and they certainly don't get put on a sexual offenders list since they haven't done anything sexual. I find nothing sexual in that image. That being said, he shouldn't be doing that in a foreign country which has different standards to his own. Save it for St. James' Park on a Saturday afternoon with a meat pie in one hand and a bottle of dog in the other, lad.

sums up my thoughts spot on

If you are willingly exposing yourself in public, mid day in front of children(look at the picture, there is a kid not two rows back), then you  the whole nine.  Obviously this guy was trying to be cool, show off for his friends with a homoerotic gesture and it was an epic failure.

I agree. I am outraged. If you are exposing yourself mid-day in front of children you deserve the whole nine. He should get the full extent of an indecency charge, sex offender list, labelled a paedophile and given a lethal injection.

Now that I've said my piece, I'm going to cool off at a jimjilbang where I will  hang out naked with some of my elementary school students and their parents and have them stare at my penis for the duration of my time there.

Meh Koreans need to lighten up.

Someone streaks at a soccer game or baseball gam in the west no-one makes a big pullavah over it; foriegner to the country or not.

Why make a biggie of it here.

What I think is interesting is the nearby adjoishis seem to think it's pretty frikkin funny!  Good on them!

Ooooooh, someone is naked....  Oooh I'll have a nervous bweakdown mumsie wumsie....  Ooooh nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

My first year in Korea I was outside my hogwon having a smoke.  Looked down from the second floor to see some guy (Korean) with his pants down to his ankles pulling himself.  Many students from elementary school to high school were walking by and I was screaming at him to stop.  I wasn't getting through to him, so I got another teacher (Korean) to come out and stop him or call the police.  Anyways she didn't seem to concerned, and eventually he left on his own will.  My point is should I blame all Koreans or view all Koreans in this light?    The guy was obviously mental, but the other teacher!  How could she not do anything?  Even if the police came, would he have even  went to jail?

I agree, stop thinking the actions of a few will have any effect how Koreans view YOU.  If you're a good person, Koreans like anyone else, can see that and will treat you accordingly.
