Great idea! My school has no books, so I rewrote/illustrated a couple of fairy tales (Little Red Riding Hood and the Three Pigs) that I do different activities with for all grades. Each of mine have questions every 4-5 slides and for some of the more competitive classes I keep score like a game. I am glad to get some new stories!

Enjoy! :)

This is well after the fact, but I just used your version of the Three Little Pigs with my mixed grades 3-5 after school class, and it went over really well. I also awarded points for correct answers to the "checkpoint" questions, and after the first, the kids who hadn't so much been paying attention perked right up. I think I'll be incorporating that into all of my story powerpoints from now on.
Thanks!
(The more artistic kids were also digging the funky visual style. :))

Strange House. I'm not sure if the sounds work. If someone knows how to make the sounds work w/out needing the actual files, let me know please!

Thanks for the ppt!!

For my 5th graders, I used the story to visit simple past tense. After reading and going over the story as a class, the students were asked to choose 2 colours and go through the story and highlight regular past tense in one colour and irregular in the other.

I love this thread! I know our kids are really technologically saavy- but books are great for them to practice reading and see English used correctly! Frankly, I just have a hard time fighting with the scanner. Thought I'd post the few stories I had. The Plastic Bag Princess, Not My Friend Pie, and a Bad Case of Zig Zags (ripoffs of The Paper Bag Princess, Enemy Pie, and A Bad Case of the Stripes) were for my 5th grade summer camp. We read the sotry, did a worksheet, and performed a play of each at the end of the week. I added the vocabulary ppt for each as well.

These are stories I found referred to on the internet or couldn't scan for whatever reason. The pictures are self found, but the text is managable for elementary level.

Choco and Chip's Week (take off of Chip's Week) nice for Days of the Week
Busy Bear's Family (includes the five senses and nuclear family members)
The Story of the Chinese Zodiac
The Story of King Solomon (for older students using personal possesives, relatively religiously neutral)

This is called "The Witch Story", but I adapted the story to have more characters and to include colors during winter camp. (I got my grade 3/4 kids to do a role play of this story).

Here is the original text:
There was an old witch. She forgot all the time.
This is the garden.
"Oops! Where is my cat?" "Meow! I am under the tree."
This is the bathroom. "Oops! Where is my wand?"
"It is behind the curtain."
This is the bedroom. "Oops! Where is my book?"
"It is in the drawer."
This is the kitchen. "Oops! Where is my lamp?"
"It is on the table."
This is the living room. "Oops! Where is my umbrella?"
"It is next to the door!"
One day, she went to a party. She had a lot of fun at the party.
She is on her way home. "Oops! Where is my house?" "Oh, no!"

Hi there,

I just joined an English library by my school, so my goal is to make at least one story a week.  That may be ambitious as the year gets busier, but I will try.

This story is called I Spy Colors in Art by Lucy Micklethwait.  I thought the book would be for my younger students, but I have found that grade six enjoyed it too. :)  You might be able to incorporate more about art, and follow up with an art lesson, but at the very least this is another activity to teach colors!
