I have an open class for my contract renewal coming up for the second period. My CoT is starting to get worried, I told her about it two days ago. Just now she realized that it is in 3 days.  :P She feels left out of the loop. Now she knows how I feel.

She is worried, because she never lets me plan anything for 5th grade. So she thinks I cant do it. But I plan things for 6th.

Anyway made a no frills land game. (flick game) It has 5 of the Ss faces. Which can easily be removed and replaced with the other pictures in the land game. Will take you 2min to do.  I used the pictures from the back of the book.

Sorry no PPT to introduce. It is littered with the all my Ss faces and would take some time for you guys to fix.

My CoT got this PPT from the indieschool, I thought it was really good, but just had alot of mistakes. I fixed it up, added some sound and fixed all the animations. WARNING.....the sound effects will be cool for the first 2 slides. They will get old real quick, especially after teaching it for 6 classes. It helps to show how to describe the face, appearance, and what people wear. good for the first couple of periods, or a quick review for later for motivation. Motivation, only because it features the sound from PORORO.

I uploaded to two sound files too. Sometimes the sound files need to be kept together with the folder. So make a folder and put everything together, and it should work.

I used the PPT today. It went over REALLY well. It was funny for the first couple of slides, then it got really annoying. Whenever I said, now repeat after me, they simple repeated the sound file of PORORO. So I removed the sound files from the PPT during the break and only kept the first sound file at the begining. It is pretty cool having all the kids burst into song. It can easily be done by just muting the TV after the first slide. Or remove the sound individually. I did that.

Thanks for the ppt. I don't know how I can reply for the specific post..........
I downloaded a ppt which has a lot of Simpson's pics.
It worked well in my classes. Students kept asking me how and where I could fine those pics..kk
and I kind of ignored them.
Anyway, thanks! :)

Hey,
Here's a body parts labelling worksheet featuring those two pillars of joy, Spongebob and Bart Simpson.
17 body parts, and a ppt to show the hints and check the answers. Lovely.

Here is a video of my students dancing to "Go away big green monster" includes subtitles and motions.  Have your students do the same motions as the kids in the video.  Good for teaching adjectives and descriptive words.  enjoy

Hey, do you have the original ppt and song file you used for this lesson? You're dancing kids are cute, but the original files look good too.

Hello,

I am currently looking for Storytime section of this topic.  My co teacher is requesting that I do a whole period this week on all the story times just to get them out of the way.  We just only finished storytime 1 and she's not happy with this part of the book.

I don't mind it.. andyhoo just on the lookout.. Thanks!

I took this idea from an earlier poster.  I printed out the character cards from the game Guess Who and cut off the names.  Each student gets a card and should immediately stick it to their forehead without looking at the card.  With their English notebooks they should go around the room and try to figure out what their person looks like.  I made a ppt with all the rules and key phrases.  It also has pictures of the guess who cards so you can print them.  Enjoy.

Here's a festive powerpoint I made for practicing. For the "guessing" slides at the end tell the students three things about your uncle or what have you... for example. "He's not old, He has long hair, he has a beard. Who is it?"

One more... This is a Mad Libs style activity. Have them choose one word from each of the ten options. When they finish give them the story sheet to fill in (matching the word to the number). They should draw a picture of their person as well. Ideally volunteers can share with the class at the end.

I will be using this powerpoint and the 10 second game. The student has 10 seconds to get the correct answer or they will lose a point.

here's a very simple PPT with interesting pictures to get the students to use the phrases from the book.  'She has long hair," "He has big ears," etc.

This is super basic but works really well. The file is just a hidden picture ppt, that I didn't even make (so thanks to the original up-loader). The trick here is to put pictures of your students behind the panels instead of or in addition to celebrities.  My students freaked out after the first picture trying to guess who in their class is the next one up.
If you don't have a Dropbox account as a teacher, you really need to get one now. https://www.dropbox.com/referrals/NTI4NzI0NzQyOQ

Here's a video we made for this unit.  If you like crime and Kimchi, then this is probably the video for you.  I also attached the worksheet I used in class to go with it.  Enjoy!

[mod edit: removed video]
How do I download this video on a flashdrive?

Here is a "face wheel." It has a list of body parts associated with a face, and then a cover with two slots. You spin the cover and draw whatever two features it lands on.
