If anyone is looking for stories they can do in class, Dr. Seuss' "Green Eggs and Ham" is a great candidate. I didn't bother with a link because if you search for it on Youtube, there are a lot of videos and I haven't figured out which one is the best yet. Hopefully, one will have the words on the screen.

This video is a good one (about 8 minutes long though) but there are some words on the screen too and lots of repitition and visuals to help for understanding.

Also, if you do decide to use the video here is a printable (they can colour it in too) that you can use for a tic tac toe game as well.  I have used this for another Dr. Seuss unit and the kids love it.

A variation on the tic-tac-toe game could be to have the students draw things they like in a row, maybe use the X or O in the corner so they know which is theirs.  Then if they try to block their opponent, maybe have them draw something they don't like.  And make them practice the target language by saying "I like/don't like ___."  Then the winner could maybe say "Tic-tac-toe, I like apples.  I like bananas.  I like oranges."  I think it's what I'm going with for lesson 1.  Thank you for the Dr. Seuss video.

Well, my class had never played tic-tac-toe, so it turned into Bingo, I think.  hahaha, this is what happens when you're given 30 minutes or less to throw together a lesson.

Phew! Okay, here's a lesson for Part 1. It's in 3 parts

1- An intro PPT designed to show the difference between "Like" and "Don't like". It also teaches 8 fruits: Apples, Bananas, Grapes, Strawberries, Pears, Watermelon, Oranges and Pineapple.

2- A small worksheet for students to write fruits they do/don't like

3- A PPT quiz game. STudents play this in groups. Basically, hand out one of the "Mina likes/Minsu likes/Zeeto likes/Scott likes..." worksheets to each group.

Next, open up the 7.1QuizPPT. Each slide has a "Mina likes _______" or "Zetto likes _____" on it. Students, as a group, have to tell you "Yes! Mina does like _____" or "No! Mina doesn't like ________" depending on what's on the "Mina/Zeeto/Minsu/Scott likes..." worksheet.

To facilitate this, I've included a set of X/O flashcards my kids use a lot to say "Yes! That's true/correct!" or "No, it's not!". It's a nice way to give every kid a say quickly. If you don't wanna use the cards, just have them yell it out.

I have remade a pass the paper game I found for a grade six class made by kerrym.
It has been modified for this lesson, I like apples.
The game is so simple and the kids had heaps of fun.

I am also required to test my kids at the end of every chapter....also attached is the test I used for lesson seven.

Can't stand some of the sounds in the Ghostbusters game, gonna try updating it with better sounds.  I'll post when I'm done.

Yeah, one class of third graders was covering their ears today. But in the older classes, the students all imitate the ghosts every time they pop up. Go figure. I got the original game from a Korean site, but it was created by an American. It's so much better than other bomb games, I can deal with the sounds!

if you search green eggs and ham i posted a powerpoint of the story also <i may have edited a word or two to keep out Seuss' own words, or that may have been another story...not sure, but it's a slide by slide of the story i used to teach online!>

Worksheets that provide cues for asking questions about likes and dislikes. That can be handed out and students walk around asking questions. Once again answers have to be given in full sentences.

Hello, my principal asked that I try and include some cultural differences within the lessons.  This chapter is based on food and I took the opportunity to expose my 3rd graders to foods from other countries.  I found a powerpoint online that has a mini description and pictures of foods from different cultures.  You can obviously spend as little or as much time on each slide when discussing other countries.
