Exploring Our World Camp

(1/49) > >>

sheila:
Here is a camp lesson that I had worked on for my 5th-6th grade students.  It involved some map reading, giving directions, simple landforms, parts of a map, compass, make a map, locations, coordinates, flags of the world, shapes on a flag quiz, writing practice, etc.  I'll try to put on what I can find of what I have left for now.  I'll also try to scan what I got from books. I'll put up a simple unit plan in a couple of days.

panda:
That's a cool collection of videos. Would it be possible to post the rest of the things you mentioned?

skepsis:
I love the concept and the content.

These kids need to know more about the world than World Cup, "Obama," and mad cow disease.

Way to go, Waygookin!

sheila:
I need some time to scan it all but I'll try to get it on here when I can.

http://geography.pppst.com/mapskills.html Here's a website with some available resources you can check out. Also here is the website for the book series that I've used for this. http://www.evan-moor.com/Title.aspx?CurriculumID=7&SeriesID=128&TitleID=490&EmcID=484  I used the 1st and 2nd grade level since it was given to me but I think maybe the 3-4th grade level would have been much more valuable.
