For winter camp I did one of my lessons on sports in general. First I showed the students a youtube video of amazing sports plays and had them list the sports that they saw. Then I went through a quick power point on what items are used in what sport. The lesson ended with a baseball game I made for the students.

For the game I made the questions range in difficulty so that easy questions would be worth 1 move (a single) and the hardest questions would be worth 4 moves (home run). Students were in two teams and we played paper, rock, scissors to see who would be "at bat" first. Then one person from each team would come up to the desk for a question. After the question was read, the first student to hit the de나 would get the chance to answer. If the team "fielding" hit the desk and gave the right answer first it was an out for the "at bat" team. Three outs and the teams switched. Scoring was done on the chalkboard by drawing a baseball diamond and using magnets as players and red magnets to show how many outs a team had.

Simple camp activity
« Reply #29 on: April 19, 2011, 12:46:15 PM »
This is a fun activity to get the students speaking. Divide the class into groups of 4 and assign each student a # within their group. Hand each student their corresponding page with sentences on it. The students in each group have to read their # 1 sentence to their group (2,3,4,5 and so on) and as a group they have to guess the answer to the clue. Assign each group a secretary and have them write down their answers. Making it a competition between the groups always spices things up.

This is an example of a very simple one I did for a grade 4 class but you can tailor it easily to any grade/level

Acting Adverbs Game
« Reply #30 on: April 27, 2011, 05:26:32 PM »
I got the idea and some of the info from a Power Point on Waygook, but I modified the power point and game, and included an adverb sheet with Korean translations for some of the adverbs.

I have played this game before at Summer/Winter camp with my kids.  You put them in groups and have them act out adverbs with actions.  The kids roll one die to choose an adverb, and one die gives them a verb.  The teacher can modify the verbs to the desired tense as they please.

Example: student rolls the dice and gets "softly and walked".  The student will have to do the action (softly walk to the door) then say "I softly walked to the door".  Student then rolls a last die to score for his team.   You can change  the game easily to your preference.

Attached is a word document that should be printed for every group, and a power point that contains examples and instructions.

English Camp
« Reply #31 on: May 25, 2011, 06:13:42 PM »
Hi,
I'm posting my Winter English Camp from last year. I'm pretty sure some of the ideas can be used for Summer Camp; such as the Arts & Craft day. 'How to make a Pinwheel' "How to make a balloon dog" . Sports Day, Movie Day.
If you have any questions let me know....

For future reference, just save as and choose MS .doc file in the file extension window.

Here is the file saved for Word

What were the grade levels of your students? Was this document easy enough and challenging enough for your students?

I know this is a year old... (And I'm not 100% sure about your choice of username... ㅋㅋ) But thanks a million. I was asked to come up with a Summer Camp plan for the end of next week and I'm definitely gonna use some of this stuff  :)

Enough materials for about a 9 day camp where each class does around 2 hours a day.

Ten docs attached to this post, as that's the limit per post

More to come.....

If you think you can or can't do a thing - you are probably right.

Support bacteria - they're the only culture some people have.

Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
