Unit 10

This is only a 45 minute to 1 hour lesson.

I had a party with my class in the last lesson.

How does the eraser game work? I couldn't understand from the powerpoint.  ::)
Were you able to do the Solar system balloon with lower level students? I have to think of things for 3rd and 4th grade levels.

Spot the difference
« Reply #62 on: December 22, 2011, 11:18:56 AM »
Here are some spot the difference workseets I made for my 3rd grade winter camp. My plan is to give them 2 a day so it should take up to about 20 minutes each day including giving them time to colour in the pictures once the differences have all been found. There's also a PPT with 2 examples I'll do before giving them the first two worksheets & it also contains the answers for the spot the difference and the vocab. Make of it what you will!

THANK YOU!!!! This is fantastic.  Do you have on powerpoint some of the other pictures?  It looks like the answers to a few of the pictures are there but do we work out the others.  They are not so easy to see.

No all the answers should be on that PPT. There're 10 spot the difference worksheets on the word doc and 12 on the PPT. The first two on the PPT I'll do with the class for the concept and then I'll hand out the worksheets and let them do it on their own. Then I'll use the PPT to check the answers and let them write down any words they don't know.

2012 Calendar Project for Winter Camp
« Reply #65 on: January 04, 2012, 11:04:47 AM »
Here are two different versions of a 2012 calendar.  One is for coloring, great for younger students.  The second is for drawing, which could work for any level.

I filled in the dates and Korean holidays already, but you could introduce other world holidays and have the students add them.

There is room on the top for stapling and punching a hole to hang it.

I am including both Word (2007) versions and PDFs in case the formatting doesn't transition well to your computer on the Word docs.

Hello everyone.  Okay, so we did a week long camp and I was responsible for creating 7 lessons for the camp. My co-teachers prepared the other lessons. Here are the ones I did. I took some materials that I found on this website and changed them to what worked better for my students and what I wanted to do. So thank you to those who camp up with the treasure hunt idea and the opening pirate activity! I hope someone finds this useful. Everything workout great for our camp! We ran it for 2 weeks.

Studio Ghibli English Camp and other lessons
« Reply #69 on: February 09, 2012, 02:36:13 PM »
Hi everyone, my camp is a mix of all different themes. Themes include: English Olympics, at the airport, Lemon tree, Learn Verbs with Totoro, Musical Chairs, Emotions, and Golden Bell review and English Jenga. Just use what you would like to add to your camps, enjoy. Also note that there are 2 slides in the Totoro PPT which should be printed out on double-sided paper and laminated to make playing cards :) Enjoy.

Emotions:

The Ghibli sing-along PPT is to be used with the busy beavers "how are you" song (see below). I have slightly modified it, so the kids will sing along using different emotions.

1. Introduction and English names ppt
2. English Olympics
3. Golden Bell
4. English Jenga
5. Musical Chairs materials:

The Introduction PPT can be modified to suit your camp, it covers giving the kids english names and assigning groups, as well as getting them to practice it.

The English Olympics games I would really recommend as it requires low preparation and can last a long time.

The golden Bell review's all the key words and phrases the kids learnt in the form of a test. Children have white boards and marker pens and are giving a time limit for each question, when the time is up, they must raise their boards and once the PPT reveals the correct answer, they need to get their partner to mark their score sheets.

English Jenga requires you to number the jenga blocks. As the students remove a jenga block, they must use the reference sheet (see attachment) to answer the question, if they cannot do this they must go again :) This gets the kids to review everything we learn in Camp.

Musical chairs is self-explanatory :)
Here are two good youtube videos for introducing musical chairs:

This is a really good idea.  Did you teach the expressions first?  How do you know that the students know the target expression?

You just saved my life!! I'm going to use the Fashion Designer project for my 5th and 6th graders and the TV ad project.  I was seriously in a brain freeze!  These will be great for the students!
