There is a youtube wmv of the great Korean teacher lip-synching How Many Cows, from last year under willsaim. I don't know how to make a link. I willl use it for Grade 3 Lesson 6-4 I have two tomatoes YBM Si-Sa

Here is a vocab PPT I made for the second period and a pass the pencil game to follow - the whole class reads the red sentence and the student holding the pencil answers (I have them play the pass the pencil game in groups of 4-6 so more get a chance to speak).

Also, a very simple warm up counting game.

For period 3, the students tore out the fruit picture cards from the back of the book (~20).
Students mingle, find a partner, and choose one food:

Ss1: "I have a banana"
Ss2: "I have a lemon"
RPS
Winner gets the other students food and says, "I have a ____."

After 5 min.- students keep their food (everybody has a diff. amount) and I gave them half sheets of paper to make food faces like the "Hello, School" paintings with glue sticks. Then they ask their partner about each other's picture.

Very simple but gets everybody up and moving and SPEAKING, little explanation too

I've already finished lesson 6 with my kids. My CT like to go BY THE BOOK, but one thing I'd do just to review food items is ask them to "make a [invisible] sandwich" with all the foods they could thinks of (go until they run out of ideas or start getting absurd or until you think they're warmed up for the lesson) then have them EAT it

You can ask how many of each item goes into the sandwich. For some reason my kids loved this and it practices "let's make..." and "how many.

Also, thank you for the videos! I am currently teaching how many to my afterschool 1 & 2. They love singing and dancing, so I think they're get a kick out of the how many cows thing. They already know 'are you hungry' (from "Today is Monday") but I might show them the other video just because

Here is a human zero game I made for lesson 6.
Kids play in teams of fours. (If you have an odd team like only 3 students then 1 person can just raise their hand to represent an extra person.)
First show them the picture, then they have to make a sentence. As they say the sentence. They should choose to either stay seated or stand up. Then show them the number. If the number of team members standing matches the number shown then the team gets 1 point. If they match when the number is zero, then they get 3 points.
Kids loved this game coz they like guessing things and got to move a little. Also gets them to practice the sentences.

Here's a connect 4 game I have made to use in part 1 or 2.
Incase you don't know the game: Working in pairs the students have a color pen each and decide who will be 1 and 2 by playing rock, scissor, paper. Then number one chooses a square and marks an 0 (or one played can be 0 and one can be X instead of colors) and says the expression: I have ____ _____s. Then number 2 has their turn and choose a square, saying the correct expression. The winner is the student who can get 4 in a row, either horizontally, vertically or diagonally. They can try and stop their partner getting this by blocking their path.

I used a Sesame Street video to replace the Second Period's Script. I asked them questions how many fruits there were, including saying, "There are no ____"

I made a review game that the kids really liked. The game board is a series of questions, How many ___do you have? Each kid started with a slip of paper with several pieces of fruit on it. If they answered a question correct, they picked up another card that had one or two additional items on it. If they answered incorrectly, they had to go back to start and give up a card. Because the numbers were constantly changing, it was a good review for them. Becasue it was a board game, they loved it. It did take some time to prep it and get all the cards made but it can be used for several different lessons and grades.
