Games that have been successful with teachers and students!

Hi everyone, here is a list of very simple, non-specific games that have worked quite well with both teachers and students. (With the teachers, I always play under the pretense that they can then take the game to their respective classrooms and use it....but I digress)

BINGO - for those of you who may have seen my teaching demo in Tamyang...you know what I mean. The prep for this is so little it's on the verge of ridiculous...and AWESOME! Here's what you do: choose a subject (ie opposites, summer weather, recent vocab, adjectives/adverbs, verb tenses), print out a bunch of blank 4x4 sheets for the kids. In class, preteach any vocab, then have the students fill in their own bingo cards and play, play, play!!

Pictionary - (SEE ATTACHMENT) Students are in three teams. Each team has a designated "draw-er" (where I come from, people say "Artist"). Each team's draw-er will take turns drawing on the board from a list of words. Students must guess the correct word that the student is drawing. Each correct word awards the team points. FUN!

Sentence race - (SEE ATTACHMENT)

Outburst (can a bit difficult for low level students) - This can be found in your JLP resource book from Orientation. Basically, a student is given a picture and must describe the picture without using several key words. For example...the team must guess the word "Kimchi", but the student who is describing kimchi can't say kimchi, red pepper, or cabbage. NEATO!

Any kind of quiz game:
Typhoon
Jeopardy
Hexagons (courtesy of Collen Brandrick) (SEE ATTACHMENTS) - This is a 2 team game. When you see the template, you'll understand. Basically, students have to answer question to get a complete row of hexagons. Kinda like connect 4 and tic-tac-toe smushed into a fun-packed 45 minutes!
