A little late for this year, but this is a great lesson that requires a lot of time. The students have "passports" and find the answers to the questions either in a packet, cards, internet, ppt, etc. Each day they can "travel" to a new country to discover the holiday they celebrate there and learn about it.

I am so thankful for all of your very detailed lesson plans. Planning a 3 week camp can be a little overwhelming but this has helped a lot.

For my 3rd and 4th graders I'm doing 2 classes on stories. One day learning new story vocab and the second day have them write their story, each class is only 40 min. But now I'm having trouble choosing a simple story that they'll understand, they are all very low level.

Does anyone have any recommendations??

Wow~ It looks good~ I'm considering to have students to travel all around the world during the camp class. My theme is like a 'travel the world' students move around to get some stamps. When they answer some quiz questions  related to the coutry, they can get a stamp.... That was my main idea. Now I can add this material  to my class to make it much more fun~~ Thanks all the time^^

I did a passport theme winter camp for grades 3-6. Camp was 2 weeks long with 3&4th grade for week one and 5th & 6th grade for week two. Each day we learned a little about a country and the activity or craft was tied to the country. On day one I took their pictures and printed them on the printer. At the end of the day I had the students color the flag of the country and I stamped it with the date and stamp sticker from the passport template.  Here is the basic camp outline with power-points, and passport template included. I made pretty simple workbooks for students to complete in between activities or for those that came early before camp started. We  corrected the worksheets as a class using the touch screen. Kids love using the screen doesn't matter what for. (I collected workbooks and passports at the end of the day and they took them home at the end of the week).

Day 1-Introductions
         Make English name tags
         Name musical chairs
         Make passports
         Country U.K. -First true passport was from the U.K.
Day 2- Homophones
           Made snow globes
           Country -First snow globe came from France
 Day 3-Parts of a Letter/Card
          Make Holiday Cards
          Learn about New Year's Resolution
          Students make New Year Resolution kitchen magnets
          Country-China -New year celebration and interesting NY tradition
Day 4- Cooking Day
          Learn about Food/games
          Made Pizza Bagels
          Country-Italy
Day 5-Graduation
          I took pictures each day and showed them in a ppt on the last day.

          short game for review
          Watched short movie-I showed the Grinch-my camp was during Christmas
          Gave students popcorn
          Handed out Certificates and small prizes to each student.

A few pics from camp....Word of caution---you may want to try a test snow globe to measure materials! If I had to do this again, I would use a smaller jar for less water and mess! The kids loved this activity and pizza!
