Wow. Thanks. You can tell you put in lots of effort and time. I've done k-pop lessons in the past that went over well but not as detailed as this.

Thank you for sharing.^^*
It' very intresting~~~

I made this for my high school girls and judging from the noise level and energy in the classroom, they really loved it.  Basically, they have to tell me the song name and artist based on only an English excerpt of the song.  I included something called SHINee Surprise (I'm obviously biased) to spice things up.  I think this would be a great game to play during camp or when you have an extra day to do something fun.

Since I created it for girls, it might be a little too boy group-heavy for a classroom full of guys, but you never know.

Here's a preview:

If you're interested in getting the powerpoint, you have to download it on rapidshare https://rapidshare.com/files/1636696556/K-Pop_Slam.zip because with all the music videos, gifs, audio, and graphics, the file far exceeds the attachment size limit on waygook.  Download the file, unzip it, and drag the folder named "Fantastic Elastic" to your desktop.

VERY IMPORTANT: Since the powerpoint is linked to so many video clips and audio clips, you should keep everything in the same folder!!!  Moving things around will cause the powerpoint to lose the embed link and the videos and audio will no longer work!

Also, be sure to read the Word Doc containing instructions, tips, and the answer key.

If you have any problems with the powerpoint, please notify me!

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE:

DO NOT PUT MY FOLDER INSIDE ANOTHER FOLDER.  IF YOU DO THIS, THE VIDEOS/AUDIO WILL NOT WORK.

It's because the videos and audio are linked and not embedded to the powerpoint.  If you try to put my folder within another folder, you end up changing the address of each individual file that's linked to the powerpoint.  That's why they don't work.

What you should do is drag my folder onto your desktop and play the powerpoint from there.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for posting the revised KPop slam 2 version--I have a lot fewer "mis-clicks" with the reprogrammed auto-starting songs.  My students were bored for the first half of class (end of the year surveys) but they came alive for the KPop section and I went out with a "Big Bang" on this last Monday class of the year. :)  I really appreciated the clues you gave for the harder answers.  My students did need clues for most of the 50-point ones.

I should probably post this in the tech support forum, but... when I show the clips, they'll show the initial frozen screen image as they momentarily load, but as soon as it starts playing the video box goes black.  We can still hear the music through the classroom TV, but we can't see the video.  The video image only appears on my laptop screen.  While this is probably a good thing for the "Sixth Sense" by Brown Eyed Girls clip (heh), it's kinda disappointing for the other ones.  Do I need to set my monitor to use the TV as the primary display instead of the laptop?  Tried fiddling with settings, but my Cataclysm control center (I think that's the name) is in Korean... Don't know... =\ Well, it's still a great game, and they still had fun singing along even without the video.

What a nice idea! Kids are crazy about the young k-pop singers and so am I!
Thank you for sharing your idea and I'll post later how much my kids get into this.

Small correction for KPop slam 2, provided by my students.  On the fourth from last slide of KPop Slam 2 ("Beast sings Chinese," for language surprise), one of my students corrected me saying it's Super Junior M singing it, not Beast.  I had a hard time figuring out what slide she meant, since the Beast song that's an actual question is indeed correct.  But I guess it was the bonus slide that needed a minor change.  Just as a head's up!

My 3rd Graders loved this game.
They even postponed their snack party to finish it!
Thank you so much, you saved my bacon today.
Awesome game.
Wish I had the patience to make a great game like this.

Awesome and thankyou. Even though I am all boys high-school my first-graders really got into it.

Just as a note to others, whilst prior to the lesson I had familiarised myself with the rules and the "clicks" on the powerpoint, this lesson leaves you alot to do to control the game.

Therefore I would recommend:
A) Showing the game to your co-teachers before class, and sharing the workload.
B) Knowing the answers well in your own mind.

I just tried it without either and so things went a bit clunkily first time.

For example, my students had to be reminded to rotate the fan, not to shout bingo early, I had refer to two pages of the answer key every question, write the scores on the board and remember who shouted bingo second, third and even fourth as mistakes were made commonly. I tried to do it all by myself first time and slowed things down alot.

Once again though, superb work, ta muchly!

I tried using this about 6-months ago but couldn't get it to work, but with a new computer in my class it now works!

Seriously, thanks for this, and the other k-pop slams as this must have taken ages!  Really is a lot of work that will help me out for a good few lessons!

Just out of interest, does anyone have a link or a page with the answers on?  I'm not too hot on my k-pop!

I believe there should be a READ-FIRST file that has the instructions on how to play as well as the answers.  I don't remember if I renamed the file myself, but mine shows up as "00 K-Pop Slam -  READ FIRST!.doc"

Great great resource but for some reason I get this message; SSL connection error
Unable to make a secure connection to the server. This may be a problem with the server, or it may be requiring a client authentication certificate that you don't have.
Error 107 (net::ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR): SSL protocol error.

Any ideas? :o

The link doesn't work for me--I assume it has to do with the school filter. I've also gotten the connection error in the past as well. Is there an alternate mirror to download this K-Pop Slam from?

This looks awesome. I just posted a PPT for the community last week, how do you view it to see if it is downloadable?
