Music Camp (middle school)
whitespider:
This summer I'm doing a music themed camp. It's basically a 2 week (10 x 1 hour long lessons) build up to Anthonyteacher's awesome 'Make a Music Video' camp. (http://www.anthonyteacher.com/music/student-made-music-videos/)
Here it is! (some of it, I'll put the rest up as I finish it)
Here now: Powerpoints for days 1-10
Letters form Mr. Bigwig.
Diary
Some lyrics sheets with fill in the blanks and questions
Worksheets for days 1, 2, 3 and 4
Coming soon: 3rd week powerpoint.
Worksheets for all activities.
Workbook to use instead of worksheets for added coolness and save the planet/use less paper abilities.
The rest of the lyrics sheets with fill in the blanks and questions.
Videos (or links to videos) needed in the powerpoints.
Feel free to use it all, use whatever bits you want, or change it around as you like.
Music camp plan:
Day 1 - Apply to become a musical super star, do personality tests to find out what roles you will have in the group.
Day 2 - Learn about rhyme, listen to Owl City, write a rhyming song.
Day 3 - Learn how to describe people, listen to Avril, describe one of your classmates using similes.
Day 4 - Learn about past, present and future verbs, listen to Arcade Fire, do a clue hunt around the school.
Day 5 - Learn about words indicating order, listen to Weird Al Yankovic, make a spider/float.
Day 6 - Learn about giving advice, listen to Sublime, record some advice in response to a problem.
Day 7 - Learn about onomatopoeia, listen to Rhapsody in Blue, make a comic
Day 8 - Learn about asking questions, listen to 50 cent, do an interview with a classmate.
Day 9 - Learn about giving instructions using verbs, listen to Michael Jackson, invent a gesture.
Day 10 - Introduce make a music video idea, watch Nickleback's Rockstar and some student made videos.
3rd week - Make a music video!
Day 15 - Watch videos, have a feast.
Also, it would be great if someone could embed the videos for me. I have some kind of crappy portable version of powerpoint and it wont let me do it...

This is awesome! I'm actually doing an English through (Pop) Music summer camp, so I'll definitely be stealing some of your stuff :) My camp is on a completely different schedule- 4 days, 4 hours per day (might try to change it to 8 days, 2 hours a day. But I'm going to incorporate Glee episodes with WKS and "dissecting" songs within the episodes, followed by a discussion about the topic(s) of the episodes. Just wanted to let you know that I'd love for you to post some more ppts as you make them. They are definitely going to get used!!

This is awesome!! I will definetly be taking inspiration from your lesson plans. Your powerpoints are fantastic too-- did you make them with regular Microsoft Powerpoint? How do you get those cool backgrounds like that? I have basic knowledge of Powerpoint but I'd love to know how to make my slides as interesting as yours. Thanks a bunch! :)
