@ kates358 I really like your lesson! Any chance you could post your materials on here too? ;)

I can't seem to download day 3 & 5 ppts. It keeps telling me that someone else is using the file... whatever that means. I thought that maybe too many people were trying to download it at the same time, so I've tried doing it at various times throughout the day without luck. Whitespider or anyone else... would you mind uploading them again or emailing them to me at smun50@gmail.com??? I'm trying to use this camp for my summer camp... I need them ASAP!!
Thanks for the material Whitespider... they're great!!! Is there any chance you can upload the rest of the material for the camp?? Thanks so much!

Hey fellow music-camp makers! All of this stuff looks fantastic, and definitely gave me inspiration for my camp! My camp is super short, only 2 3.5 hour mornings... so it's hard choosing which activities to fill it with! But, this is how mine is going to go!
I like the idea of putting them into different groups... or 'bands'. First activity, I'm going to show them all sorts of classic album art from Western music, you know Beatles, Supertramp, Elvis, Pink Floyd.. and throw in a couple modern albums so they don't think I'm a complete old fogey. Then, in their bands they're going to design their own CD cover!
After a short break, I'll have them compete to name as many genres as possible. Then, I'm going to show them about 5 different genres of Western music, with the videos. I'm thinking
Rock- Black Keys or White Stripes
Country - Corb Lund (Canadian style, awyeh)
Hip Hop - gorillaz .... I saw you guys were having a hard time finding appropriate hip hop... I think gorrillaz have lots of low swearing songs that are free of bitches and hos
Beatboxing - Reggie Watts (only for the sake that I think it'll blow their mind)
ska - Save Ferris or No Doubt (tragic kingdom era)
Students will have a worksheet to match the songs to the genre, and then they'll have to tell me all about what they liked the most and why
After that, we'll spend an hour watching the fist half of School of Rock, with a worksheet that will go along with it.
For my second day, they'll be in their bands, making a concert poster, after I introduce them to concert vocab.
After a short break, I'll have them compete to name as many musical instruments as possible. Then, it's craft time... they get to make their own instrument!
After that, we'll end the camp with the second half of School of Rock, and of course... a worksheet!
Side note... does anyone know if there is a specific place that I could get random empty cd cases.. I didn't bring any cds with me but I feel like they'd like the album art activity a bit more if they get to put their work in a case!

Where is the sheet for the Day 8 onomatopoeia rhapsody in blue sheet to match the instrument with the sound?
