A Short Waygook Rant
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:27:07 AM »
First off, I must say that I do love Waygook.org and my lesson plans would definitely be a struggle without it. A big thank you to those who make this website/forum possible.

But this is a rant, so I must proceed.

I must ask why the switch? I can understand a new look, but now the search results are different - and not better. When I type in something like 'grade index' to find the lesson plans for a certain grade level, the post I'm looking for doesn't come up anymore! I'm sure it's still there, but this search used to bring all grade level indexes on the front search page - why should that change?

What should change is the fact you can't type one letter/number in a search - to me this doesn't make sense when you're allowed to title topics with one letter/number. Using the grade index search example again, I'm unable to type 'grade 5 index' which I would assume would bring up the index I'm looking for but because we're not allowed to use '5' I'm stuck using 'grade index' which doesn't do what I want it to anymore.

I'm not ranting to be an annoying member, just want to point out, in my personal opinion, a couple of flaws which I think, if fixed, could really help make Waygook even more amazing.

Again, thanks for everything you guys are doing here.

There are a few issues at the moment, but we're looking at fixing things as we go along.

Regarding one letter or number searches being allowed:  It may not make sense to do so as it results in massive lists based on that particular digit or letter.   I'll see what I can do, but that feature actually slowed things down a bit.
Carpe PM... ZzzzzZzzz ZzzzZzzz.

Use Google to search this site only (read my signature how to do so). I always use Google to search Waygook and other sites.
------------------------------------------
Search this site using Google by typing, "site:waygook.org [search term]," especially during peak hours. Alternatively, use the site's search function.

@Arsalan - Would it make sense to not allow single letters/numbers in new post titles? Or would that annoy people too much?

@davec18 - Thanks for the advice - I'll definitely be using it!
