Paddington - movie vocab worksheet
« Reply #160 on: June 23, 2015, 11:55:52 AM »
I made this simple worksheet for vocabulary in the (excellent) movie Paddington.

We read the words first, repeated  a few times so they understand their meaning, watched the first act of the movie (until Paddington's bathroom incident), took a break to write in all the words and then resumed the movie.

Next week I'm going to make another worksheet for Pt 2, I'll upload that then.

Attached is the vocab worksheet plus the Korean subtitle file.

Enjoy!

Paddington - Worksheet 2

This time it's just a simple table to populate with information: Name / Country / Likes / Age..

Students can ask 2 friends for their information and then read it out loud....

I've noticed my students are really struggling with ordinal numbers, specifically when I ask the date. So I did a pretty successful class with my 4th graders.
First, we listened to the numbers song (they love it) and I taught them the ordinal numbers versus regular numbers.

I gave them two of these worksheets:
http://worksheetplace.com/index.php?function=DisplayCategory&showCategory=Y&links=4&id=89&link1=40&link2=91&link3=315&link4=89

And then we played a racing game. I wrote first to twelfth (there were 12 students) on separate pieces of paper - so that means two teams of six each. Each team tries to stand in order of the numbers they were given and the first team to stand in correct order gets one point.

Gonna post all the classes I've been teaching! Most of the materials are edited stuff that other great WGers have made, so thank you! But I edit them to suit my classes so thought I'd post.

Food lesson. I made this lesson as a lead up to doing the very hungry caterpillar with my 1,2 graders, I will do days of the week next week! So that's why I chose the food I chose in the PPT!

- Food intro PPT
- Handwriting practice WS
- Hidden picture guessing game

I cant find the original post but someone in this thread made a PPT about how to make Korean ramen and suggested a make your own ramen activity, I made a worksheet and powerpoint for that great idea :)

First PPT slide is to print, second has examples (my kids are very low level and need a lot of prompts)

I'm hoping the kids will come up with some pretty disgusting combinations

I'm also gonna use this song because my kids will love it

I've attached the lyrics to it too. I just wrote them from what I heard so let me know if theyre wrong!

Under the sea lesson. Actually using this for 1st and 2nd graders but it would work for 3,4 too.

1. Intro PPT and new vocab
2. Create your own sea creature.  Print the last page of the PPT. PPT has examples of sea creatures, so my kids have some vague idea whats going on  :P
3. Pictionary / Bingo (depending on how crazy they are that day  :undecided: )

More worksheets I made
Again, I'm using them for 1st and 2nd graders but they can easily be used for low level 3rd and 4th graders who need to practice their phonics.

These are phonic worksheets for ABCD. I will probably make more and work my way through the alphabet.

Pretty self explanatory but just incase...

First one, the students should colour the objects a different colour depending on which letter the item begins with.
Second one, they should cut and stick the letter onto the words.

I'll probably show a couple of the letter songs by have fun teaching as a warm up, and an episode of alphablocks (great for phonics!)
This will probably take the whole lesson as the kids colour things in painstakingly slow

Again, a lesson for 1st 2nd graders but will also work for my low level 3rd and 4th graders when we finish the textbook and have some extra lessons!

Very simple PPT with some fun gifs to introduce certain nouns that match with the letters ABCDE.

Then, a simple game where the students have a whiteboard each and a pen. When the picture appears on the PPT they write down which letter the word begins with and hold it up to show me. (I will write the letters ABCDE on the board since they struggle with the formation of the letters)

I'll play a bingo game afterwards.

Super simple but might come in handy for some :)
