I did this game with my 6th grade class the other day. They really liked it. It gives them practice with speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

How I played it was I put the class into groups of four or more. The first person from each group would come up the the front and look at the picture on my computer screen. They would have to come up with a sentence using the chapter phrases and then go back to their groups and whisper the sentence to the second person. The sentence is then passed to the last person in the group through a chain of whispering. When it gets to the last person, the last person writes the sentence down on their white boards and raises it up. The first group to raise up the correct sentence gets a point. Switch the roles and then repeat. If you don't have individual white boards, you can have the last person run up to the chalk board. You may have to help them comprehend some of the pictures. Also, make sure that the first person is whispering to next person rather than telling the whole group once they return.

Enjoy!

I would definitely suggest using the Mario game at least once. My kids were freaking out about how cool it was!!!

Also, I used the clapping game and changed it up and put the kids in teams and had them perform it in front of the class. The kids who normally dont pay attention were really into this game! Definitely will use it again with all the grades I teach!

Please Help wiht some writing ideas.. i'm at a lost. This chapter is so dull.

Here is an Angry Birds Final Exam Review for chapters 9–14. There are 3 questions each from chapters 9–12, 3 questions about Thanksgiving based on the lesson I taught my students, and 5 questions each for chapters 13 and 14.

I used Daejeon's Angry Birds PPTs reworked by richarquis to work without the macros and added bits from about 7 or 8 other PPTs. :)

Game instructions are here in the original post by richarquis.

Enjoy.^^

First I did a quick overview of "Would you like.." vs "Do you want..."  using the first PPT.  Then we played a virus game.. students ask each other "Would you like to.." and answer "Yes, I'd love to."  They fill in their card with their friend's name and 'mission phrase'.  After the students sit down, the teacher chooses 4 or 5 students as the virus (call out their mission phrase).  Any students who have the 'virus' students on their card lose the game.

The next class we had a huge open class and we put together this master PPT.  You can take it apart and use what you'd like.

Here is an excel of the virus game phrases. I tried to make it a little easier for the kids to see/understand the sentence format.

a review ppt and a game that goes with it. they kinda need to be used together because the game wouldn't make sense if they hadn't already learned what phrases go with the pictures. enjoy

It's a little late, but I hope this helps someone.  It's a very simple missing word activity for Story time.

This is the story ppt used for section 5. It took all hour to do and was really successful.
Make sure to make cards for each of the phrases, cut them out and laminate them.

I created two crossword puzzles.  Some of the questions and words are used twice but once in each puzzle.  I am going to have my students work in pairs or even groups of 4 to complete this.  The team that completes it the fastest with no errors wins.

I also completed an optional PPT that can be used to display the vocab used in the puzzle for the students.  The rules are listed on the first page and then the second page has all of the words listed but once you play it and click through the slide only shows certain words at a time.

Here's a Choose Your Own Adventure ppt I put together using the Simpsons. It focuses on the "Would you like to..." sentence structure. I haven't tried it out in class yet but I intend to use it for the reading lesson of this unit.

I thought this unit was kind of ridic, and seeing as I'm not American I didn't find the unit particularly interesting, and neither did my kids. So, instead of focusing on the Thanksgiving and part of it and how apparently Western people wear their shoes in the house, I decided to look at how to use the "Would you like to..." and "Don't..." sentences instead.

Hope some of you find it useful!

Here is a simple PPT that can be used to review/introduce the key sentences. It comes with a guessing game after reading practice.
