Thanks for your advice, rlong and Koradian. The difference is not  8 dollars, it's more like more than double of what I had to pay since this month it's 30 000 won but for September and October together, it was only 27 000 won. That's what puzzles me ::)

rikkauma... ask them for itemised billing for that month and check to see what is going on. That is the best advice I can think of.  :)

However, this month, my bill was 35 000 won but I swear I have not been using my phone heavily. Most of the calls are incoming. If my bill from Sept to Nov. was only 27 00 won, how can my November bill be 35 000 won? I can't read Korean...this is really causing me a lot of trouble...

Most companies give you a discount for a month or two if you sign a contract.  I'd think this is why your bill was cheaper at first.

Hey folks,

I just arrived in Korea last week and I am looking to get in on the cell phone game as well.  My ARC is on its way and so I am starting to do my research.  I want to get an iPhone 4, Samsung Galaxy, or some other smartphone.  Where would you recommend that I go, and on top of that, which provider would you recommend?  (Maybe the provider and phone seller are the same?)  Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers.

Just get a free phone from SK T-World paying 20,000 won for the service and buy a smartphone from craigslist. No need to go through all the headache at the vendor.

dropdeadbarbi- has a good point getting lower cheaper service that way and switching sims. If you do all your downloading in a wifi spot it seems plausible. On the other hand I got an iphone 3 through the vendor SKT. it's 65,000 won first 2 months for miscellaneous fees, I got the 500 mb free internet roaming a month. It was only 5,000 one more for a steady rate of 55,000 won a month. A smart phone is good for me since I can respond to my coteacher or email my coteacher an email anytime. I like it how you can send your movies, voice recordings, etc through your phone too. hope this helps
