Moving schools: Paperwork time travel?
« on: July 25, 2011, 04:35:30 PM »
If I'm already in Korea working for a public school through EPIK, but want to change to a Hagwon will I have to refile all the paperwork?  I have the E2 Visa already so I can just renew it and stay on, right?  I really don't want to do the whole FBI background check, apostille non-sense I had to do last year, especially since I'm in Korea now.

Sorry if search could have benefited me. Didn't find it.

I'm wondering the same thing.  I'm hearing different things from different recruiting agencies.  Call immigration at 1345, for english press 3 *.   I've been calling for the past two hours and its been busy, maybe if you get through and talk to someone let me know what they say, and I'll do the same.

I never have luck getting through with immigration....no idea why because sometimes my friends just call and someone picks up the first try...but if you do find this out
then please either post it here or include me in a private message or something.

I know if I renew again with EPIK that I have to get the FBI check and the whole apostille thing but I've been in Korea for 2 years working in the same school so if there
is a way to avoid all of that then I'd rather do that.  I'm looking into hagwons to change to.

I know universities are requiring the FBI check for applicants but I never saw anything for hagwons about it.  It'd be a really nice thing to know. :-)

@ OP.

Like you said you are currently with EPIK. Are you leaving in the middle or end of you current contract to go to the Hagwon? If you are leaving mid contract then you just need to give 1 month notice and the school will have to complete a letter of release that you can get from the Hagwon. This will transfer you visa over to the Hagwon.
when in Rome.. Die eind resultaat moet die moeite werd wees!

Castielle;; No, I don't intend on leaving EPIK midcontract.  I plan on finishing out this year and then looking for the transfer.

Anyone know about more?  Thanks!
