I used the video clip at the beginning of this presentation as a ay to get my students thinking about the lesson "How much is it?". We watched it a few times and I asked them smple questions...What did the woman/customer/shopper want to buy? What question did she ask the store clerk? How much did the jacket cost? Is that cheap or expensive etc?

To finish off the lesson we completed the following ppt slides. you can edit it so you hvae responses come in for it. I had students tell me the answers and i wrote them inon the tv and i had students come up and write them in for me.

part 1: review numbers [copied from somewhere else]

part 2: telling prices--up to hundreds of dollars and 75,000 won

part 3: 5 practice conversation drills, with some of the dialogue in the book. i changed the characters, objects and prices to sponge bob, pororo, etc.

I made this ppt was a game for the end of lesson 10-period 2. We did boys vs girls. One boy one girl stand up...How class reads the "How much is it?" part and then you click to show the pictyre...the first student to make the corect sentence gets the point for their team..."The ball is 600 won" etc. it was great practice for the students. before playing the game (throughout the lesson) we continually practiced making sentences with the listen and say from the text...the skirt costs 8000 won, the hat is 5000 won etc. this way the students were ready when it came time for the game!

For this lesson, I brought in my american money and showed them the coins and bills. It was easy from there to have them count it. Hard part about us coins is that they don't have the numbers on them! But it brought a piece of real life to the table.

I'm going to go over the numbers and show them whatever different types of money I happen to have on me. Luckily enough this includes won, dollars, euros, pounds and the clincher - 100trillion pound note from Zimbabwe!

Gonna do the price is right with them as well. It seems a good one.

Also, I'm thinking of handing out fake money to the students for answering questions, good behaviour etc., redeemable at the end for jellies or sweets or something.

This is a modified Sunken Treasure game ( all the credits remain from the original uploader.)
Just a few things to note:
This will take a while. One board took my class about 20 minutes to play.
Remember which board you are playing. I color coded them to make it easier.
When the group takes their turn (we played with 4 groups) click on one of the small ships first. Ask the students your question ex. "How much is it?""How much does it cost?" Then click the colored circle that corresponds to the board you are playing to take you back to the game board.
I would keep a piece of paper with you to keep track of where you are with the small ships. It honestly doesn't matter which ship you click on, but my students like the variety in currency.

The Canadian/Korean money ppt was shared with me and I've adapted it for British currency. I also told them how much fifty quid is in won and it blew their minds which was quite fun.

I have included a vocabulary ppt (incl. spelling), plus a 2nd period review. The review was a bit lengthy and became boring for the students. I would suggest running through it quickly, or editing it down. Hopefully you can use these for the 2012 school year.
