I made this mad lib for my hagwon class of 3rd-5th graders. They enjoyed it. The topic is about a birthday gift and a birthday party. I suggest cutting the top part of the paper off and having the students fill it out while reviewing THING, PLACE, PERSON, VERB, ADJECTIVE, ADVERB, PROPER NOUN, PLURAL NOUN, PAST TENSE VERB, ETC. Having the students fill in blanks blindly will make the end outcome more humorous. Of course, give the students a plenty of suggestions but encourage them to use ones they think of themselves. When the students fill in the 21 different words (be sure to remind them that numbers 1, 2, 14, and 15 repeat). Then give them the text for them to fill in the blanks. Have the students read it aloud and the absurdity will be entertaining. If you want to use this as a format for a speech about birthday gifts, you can do seriously as well.
