Is this ironically not the exact same procedure used by those odd Koreans trying to improve their English pronunciation? Smells like snake oil...

The amount of people who have read this story and completely misunderstood is mind boggling, not just here.

This story was created by the daily mail. They're a british "paper" nearly on par with the Weekly world news. The girl had the procedure done for a legitimate reason. She actually had a shorter than normal tongue.

She probably said to someone that after doing so, she found it easier to pronounce some Korean sounds, and God knows how the Daily Mail caught wind of that, and we now have the story you see before you.

Exactly!

I didn't know the article started with the DM but it reeks of DM style spin. She had a shorter tongue than most and had an operation. She happens to be learning Korean and thinks it will help with that. The DM (or the Telegraph or whatever) spins it and implies that she had the operation for the sole purpose of learning Korean. Bingo! You have a story that people want to read so that they can say, "Ha! She's nuts," and then move on.

Yes, when this first happened, I received a DM link, and googled it, DM was the only place covering it at the time.

^^ That says it all really. It's the DM making up the news again.

Obsessed is what lazy people call dedication. :)

In all seriousness, I would have at least gone to the country first...
