Most of the police in Korea are unarmed. A lot of those who are armed, don't have real guns, they have tasers, or those pepper guns.

Whaaaat you mean America doesn't own alllllllll the guns in the world and that gun violence can happen even here in Korea?  Ahh, so contrary to what we're told.

I never said that happened here..

back home I'd hear gun shots a few times a year, came home to find a guy shot to death in the alley beside my building, and had another guy shot to death about half a block fro my place.

Times that's happened here?

Ah, my apologies, I misread that.

I did a bit of research though and the biggest way criminals in Korea do access handguns and other restricted weapons is through the military--cases of soldiers stealing guns or using them to commit violence has spiked recently.
