How to Get PT Jobs in Seoul?
« on: September 27, 2011, 08:00:30 PM »
I have heard about teachers on F4 visas picking up lots of PT positions/ tutoring jobs around Seoul and making good money. I am currently on a F4 visa and am trying to do the part time thing until my boyfriend's contract is up in April. However, I haven't had the best of luck in getting anything. I do have a PT job that is 3 times a week for 3 to 4 hours, but I haven't been able to pick up anything else despite applying daily to ads on craigslist, hiexpat.com and worknplay. To those out there on F4 visas who have managed to make a good living out of teaching part time, what websites have you been using to get jobs? Does posting an ad on craigslist or putting up flyers seem to get you jobs?
I should probably add a little about me as I'm sure people responding to this post will wonder if it is my qualifications that is the problem. I have over two years of work experience teaching English in Korea, teaching mainly elementary school students - though some university and adults - and 1.5 years that could be classified as "business experience." I am mainly looking for business english classes to teach as those seem to be the most plentiful and my major as an undergraduate is accounting. Also, I should probably add that I am a Korean adoptee so ethnically I am Korean but I can't speak Korean.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

business early in the morning 6-7 sort of thing, a part time kindy job, usually around 10 - 12/1pm and top it off with an after school position finishing around 6ish, add a few tutoring position in the evenings and your good to go.

The trick with part time is being able to get all the times right, if your one part time has bad hours then don't be afraid to drop it and move on.

You need to register to be a tutor, nothing major, local Gu office should sort you out.

AFEK is a good site, dedicated to people with F visas. lots of knowledgeable people there. I would recommend checking it out.

Put an ad on Craigs list / Daves / Waygook.
