Here are two directions worksheets I used recently. A critical thinking puzzle and an infogap.
The first one is a kind of critical thinking word puzzle. Students need to read the clues and label the map based on what they have read. While using this, I had to make sure students realized that there were four bus stops (the circles). This generally takes 5-7 minutes for the students to solve. I set it up with a mini puzzle using 4 buildings and 3 clues on a PPT. You can change it to be harder or easier depending on level.
After we did the puzzle, we moved on to an info gap activity. This went very well and had the students using a lot of English above and beyond what I was teaching. This map is very specific to my school (I included my name and the names of my co-teachers...feel free to change them).
Enjoy!
