Share your favourite Youtube videos or pics for class starters
« on: September 15, 2010, 10:53:37 am »
I find using a short video is a great starter for class or as a reward when the class has done well. Any video that is interesting and suitable for the students for example Test Your Awareness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahg6qcgoay4 orhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YyDmAykJSgA&feature=related

Please share your videos, links that you have used in class

My Co teachers showed this video of 'the pancake man' at the beginning of our lesson on Food to get the students motivated!! They loved it!  :)

I usually go onto failblog dot org or theirifixedit dot com and find three interesting pictures.  I then ask my students what is wrong with the picture.  I find it's a great way to get everyone settled (or more settled than before) and a great way to start using the language part of the brain.

I personally hate this one, but the students can't stop seeing it.

Haha, don't you think the kids would find the Daft Punk vid to be a bit scary?

I'm pretty sure it was someone on this site who suggested the Don't Say No to Panda, but I'm telling you, it is like this commercial is the funniest thing my kids have ever seen. They beg every class to see it:

Here are a couple PPTs I made with pics I use to greet them (often after the short video)

I've personalized some of the pics, so you may want to add your own photos of yourself or family members, but I thought they still may be useful.

Go to you tube and type in 'annoying orange.' I'm sure this is nothing new to most of you. Be warned that the kids will never let up in asking to see more. Use at your own risk.

When I once had free time at the end of the lesson my kids requested to see the "annoying orange" video as well. I really don't get what the attraction to that video is.

i've been wondering the same thing.  there's no way they understand it's saying.  same with those FRED videos.  but i guess it kills the last five minutes of class...

My class just loved this! Screams of cute and laughter - but now they know Nom Nom Nom!

They love this.  But be warned, at least half of them know it already.  They will scream along.

My third grade classes LOVED this video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_wOXSOQ24s

It was in someones powerpoint for the lesson "It's bed time."

They requested to watch it like 5 times the first class.  They howled and giggled.  I don't get the fascination with Mr. Bean= but watching the kids howl and laugh made me laugh.

I used this video for a lesson on inventions, but it could definitely be used as a class starter. Props to the poster who originally posted a different wing suit video elsewhere on this site.
