dedicated kindergarten board?
« on: August 26, 2011, 04:34:30 pm »
Just wondering if the mods have ever considered adding a dedicated kindergarten/preschool only board to the forum? I'm aware that this would technically fall under the beginner/low elementary board, but it seems like the majority of posts there are more for elementary school.

I have to say one of the number one complaints I hear from my public school teaching friends is that they just don't know what to do with those pesky once a week kindy classes that some of them have.... and I know there are many kindy teachers at the hakwons!!

I have a good bit of games, lesson ideas, strategies, videos, etc. that I'd like to share with those folks, but have always felt a little stumped as to where to post it....
Teaching kindy is a totally different ball game than teaching kids, just as working with adults requires different strategies from those you'd use with elementary students.... so wouldn't it be nice to have a one-stop shop for all your kindergarten needs?

What do you guys think?

that would be awesome! just started a new job and i dont know anything about teaching kindy...i'm kind of a laid back kind of person anyway so the whole "acting like you're stoked to be saying "boy/girl/cat/dog"" thing isn't really working out for me :/
where do i sign up?!?

I would really like to have a dedicated kindergarten board.  I think that my strategy for teaching 1st graders differs dramatically from my strategy for teaching the kindergarteners.  It would be really helpful to skip past the more advanced material in the Grade 1&2 section.

I agree.  A lot of the material I use with my 1-2 grades doesn't work with Kindergarten students...it's too advanced.
