South Korea Burning Man
« on: August 29, 2011, 02:57:56 PM »
i recently read through the couchsurfing network that there is going to be a south korea burning man celebration.  if you do not know about burning man it is a giant art festival that happens every year in the black rock desert of nevada, usa.
the south korea version will be much smaller (there are upwards of 50,000 people that attend every year in nevada) and will be held on an island outside of incheon.  it will just be one night (sat sept 3) and will be more like a gathering of people who are interested in art, music, and all kinds of free expression.  if you are interested, check out couchsurfing.org, or i can post the details here.  i know there are 4 person cabins on the island that you can rent for 30,000 won.  i would like to go, would also like to go with some people.

Here's the details if others are intersted.

It's held on Muuido - its an easy island to get to from Incheon. Bus from Incheon then a 5 min ferry ride across.

I am a two time Burn veteran and a first timer in Korea, and when I saw the post for this event my heart skipped a beat. However, the site that is linked above says that event is CANCELLED. Is this true? If not, I would love to know for sure. Also, is there a contingent from Ulsan that would be interested in going as a group?

I'll bring my poi.  I love to spin.  I'm new to Korea, though, so I don't know what/how to buy fuel. Do they have lamp oil or white gas here?

Thanks from Seocheon

It was a great time.  I only made it for Sunday, and still had a blast connecting with folks.   Check out FB for korea burners if you're interested.
