I use these for dialogue review, as a memory game platform, and as a back up role play script.

*sigh* I find that I've been using the book a lot this semester...

BUT for this lesson, I would advise the Heads Up, Seven Up! Game. To convert it into an English Game, have the seven people who come to the front of the room pass out cards as well as touch thumbs down. The people with their thumbs touched down then have to guess who gave them the card asking, "Is this your _____?"

If you're unfamiliar with the game, I've included a ppt that explains it. It went really well with all my 4th grade classes!

It's good to be back.

Get 5 or 6 students lined up at the front. Begin by givng the first student an object and whisper 'is this your ...' They then whisper back, 'yes it is'. The student then turns around and repeats to the next, passing the object along when they make the correct conversation. This happens until the end of the line. Make sure you listen in, but most likely they'll shout anyway.

You may need to pre-teach some objects first, otherwise I feel it should it fine.

I adapted the pirate game found on waygook previously for this lesson... Found the Act & Play activity in Unit 3 to be a bit boring so used this as a substitute... Divide the class into 3 teams and viola... You may have to read the words and get the students to repeat it in the beginning as some of them may not be able to read them yet.

I made a ppt with the simpsons going on vacation. They packed items with "k". Then they unpacked the suitcase and asked each other "Is this your ____________?" The students had to memorize each characters items.

Here is a handout for Lesson 9 - Is this your key?
It is a general summary of the whole lesson including vocabulary and key expressions.
I normally copy page 1 and 2 back to back and reduce the size (2 handouts in 1 A4).

My cT and I are teaching the kids additional possessive pronouns like "hers", "his", and "yours." The key expressions ppt introduces that and the fruit bomb games uses the same dialogue as the key expressions ppt.

Since I have four 4th grade classes, I made 4 different versions of the game. This way, friends from different classes can't help each other out by telling one another where the rotten fruit is or where the questions with the most points are.

Thank you for the orignal ppts. I just tweaked them for my classes.

motivation: hidden pictures ( book, pencil, etc)

review with ppt: vocabulary, key expression.

This is my lesson plan for "Is this your key?"....
I printed out the RIO page and got the students to fill in the blank and then cut and paste the boxes next to the correct picture!

Here is a rock scissors paper game for the first or second period.
Students play in pairs. One takes the left side, the other is on the right.
Students "rock scissors paper" before every move. The winner moves 1 space up.
Loser: Is this your _____? Winner: Yes, it's mine (if there is an O) or No, it's not mine (if there is a X).

The winner is the student who reaches the top first.

Vocabulary: umbrella, cap, bag, key, watch, pencil case, book, helmet.
Expressions: Is this your _____? Yes, it's mine. (O) or No, it's not mine. (X)

wow, i was just thinking about converting the heads up 7up game for this lesson, but wasn't sure how to go about it! great minds think alike! thanks alot for posting!

OMG can no one save me from the chant or song?

I have spent 2 hours on youtube and am still at a loss

Someone save us all?!

Also I was thinking of playing a reverse Go Fish game with the kids.
In groups of four they combine the card from the back of the text book shuffle and deal out 4 cards each and leave the rest of the cards in the middle.
The object is to get rid of your cards as fast as possible. So if they have 2 bag's for example they go clockwise and say to the person next to them, is this your bag? If that person has a bag card they have to say Yes, it's mine, and they gain both the cards from the person who asked. If they don't the person asking picks up from the deck in the middle. And round the cirlce it goes. If they end up with a set of 4 they put it down on the table counting towards the final score. The winner is the person with no cards left or with the least sets.
It works in my head and hope this makes sense. I will plan it in more detail before next week's class.
