My co-teachers wanted me to teach a class of second graders the alphabet, five letters per each class. Here is the powerpoint I used. I'd have them say the letter name, and the sound it made, and then practice those letters with the different picture examples on each slide.
I'd have them practice writing the uppercase and lowercase letters (Big A and Little a).
For more practice we'd play matching/memory games: Find the matching uppercase and lowercase letters among a bunch of face down flashcards.
Or speed games: See which kid can smack the letter you name the most quickly with a novelty oversized rubber hammer.
