If you have a big classroom or can access a large space, divide the students into two teams.  Ask one student from each team "Can you jump, can you run, can you skip, sing, dance" etc (i added actions as i went along). and they have to race to the other end of the space and back doing that action.  (for singing they run there and back whilst singing).  The winner is the first to come back and shout "yes i can"   Silly fun.

So my 3rd graders are pretty high level and as you can see lesson 12. Can you Jump is basically lesson 10. I can swim. They were already getting pretty bored of I can swim so I had to do something a bit different.
I found this song that's great (take caution, it's a from Japanese English learning program so skip the Japanese part in the beginning if your students are anything like mine) and I made a quick review PPT to go before the song, and the second part of the PPT is the continuation after the song.
Hope it helps!

Make a face Race!!

Materials: dice, paper, crayons,
written on the board:
DICE
1=eyes
2=ears
3=nose
4=mouth
5=hair
6=head

-Students are divided into teams. I did 4 teams of 8.
-Each team has a dice, crayons and paper. (mini white boards and markers would also work).
-One students from each team must come to the front of the class.
-The entire class says together "action"
-The teacher proceeds to do an action.
-The students at the front of the class must guess what the teacher is doing. When they know they raise their hand. The first person to raise their hand can answer saying "Can you....?"
-The teacher will then answer "Yes I can" (if they are right) or "No I can't" (if they are wrong).
-If they are correct their team can roll their dice. They can draw the corresponding body part on their paper.
-If they are wrong another student at the front can guess!
-Then those 4 students sit down and 4 new students from each group comes up.
-Repeat until one team has completed a face! That team is the winner!

I got this idea from someone's post for a grade 5 level game. I just changed it a bit to make it work for this grade 3 lesson.

Tips
-I make sure that before studnets can go for a second turn that everyone gets a turn to come to the front.
-Also if students are hesitating to come up I start a count down and if one student from a team is not at the front then that team misses out on that turn. It helps them to try harder. It keeps them focused and talking less because no one wants to miss a turn at rolling the dice.

Hey, does anyone have the pictures for the strip bingo game?  It is the game in the book for part 1.

Here are the strip bingo pictures.  The game took about 5 minutes... and produced a lot of trash.  Me and my co-teacher decided we didn't like the game, but we had already printed up and cut the strips of pictures.

Also, I don't think this lesson has much content so I decided to teach 'like a', "Can you jump like a monkey?"  The kids had a blast jumping like monkeys and mooing like cows.  And this was my first time trying the Pass the Pencil game.  It worked MUCH better than Pass the Ball.  No throwing and more running.

Thanks for sharing the "Can You Can You" video. My classes LOVED it. "Teacher. One more time. One more time." haha. It'll be a good go-to video in the future when I need to reward them or kill time.

Thanks!

Since this lesson is a review lesson my CT thought it would be a good idea to introduce pronouns (he, she, they, we).

My students are low level and so most do not know simple pronouns.  Any ideas that can help in this lesson?
