Advice on shipping furniture home to South Africa

It cost me R2 800 for three apple boxes totalling 30kg.  I didn't send a lot of stuff over and it was all boxes.  If the boxes are bigger than a metre squared, they charge you for the size of the box rather than the weight (I think!).  I remember Roxanne said that it's the cost is determined by the weight or the size depending on which one is greater.  Also, if I remember correctly, they charge everything in US dollars so the price depends on the exchange rate at the time - I got lucky and the exchange rate was pretty low at the time I shipped things over.  The rate is also determined by the route and the country to which it is being shipped.  My brother had a lot of things (several large boxes) shipped from the UK to SA by DN Freight and it only cost R2 000.  I just remember South Korea was considered an expensive country to ship things to - something about the limited number of ports.

The cost on this side - clearing, handling, delivery and customs tax (Korea charges tax on personal items that are shipped (not sure about items leaving the country though) - was only about 180 000 won but everything was included in the amount I paid to DN Freight and they then pay their distributors in other countries.
