Hi everyone,

As the topic states, is pepper spray or mace (of whatever type - bear mace? Dog mace?) legal to carry in South Korea?

Thanks!

I bought a set online.

It came with pepper spray + personal emergency alarm.
40,000 KRW delivered to my house.

the pepper spray kind of smells like wasabi though.

I hate to go off topic, but, um, how would you know?

Anyways, a foreigner spraying mace/pepper spray.  That can't end well for the foreigner...
C is for cookie, that's good enough for me.

I've been looking into this too. I've read that it is legal as long as it isn't the gas kind (which is restricted to police officers) and doesn't have a pump (?). My friend Wikipedia had this to say "Pepper spray containing OC is legal; however, gas-gun types need a simple licence to own. CS is only available for police and private security firms."

Also,  I read something about people selling illegal kinds on g-market a few years ago. But I've also heard it's ok now...

Good luck!

Sorry, I should have clarified.
1) I bought the spray in Korea. I figured if I can buy it from a Korea, its legal?
2) I never 'researched' if it was legal to carry around in korea. I just bought it off a korean website.
3) It was delivered to my address in Korea.
4) I paid 40,000 WON
5) smells like wasabi.
6) not the gas type. it was a bottle type.

Question addressed. If you know that it's actually illegal, let me know and I'll unlock the thread.
