Anyone have the textbooks by Christain H. Kim:

Level One- light orange color with letters "m" and "e" with some cartoon people
Level Three- light yellow with letters "m" and "e" with a clown on the front and seahorse.

I am looking for ideas for lessons 9-12

Anything will help. This material is so dry :/

I have those books. Did you mean level two for the light yellow one?

I am presently struggling through Lesson 9, focusing on the conversation section.
For grade 1, I made a PPT, and, as part of it, I got them to brainstorm some healthy and unhealthy foods.
I made those foods into a menu with prices and got the kids to write out a dialouge between a cashier and customer. In my classes of 40 to 44 students, I generally have about 8 students (4 pairs) who catch on quickly enough to finish the dialogue before the end of class, so... is that a success? haha
I will attach the PPT. If it is not too late, maybe you can make some sense out of it.

I also use these books for grade 1 and 2. They use books 1 and 2 respectively. (Book 1 is orange with the cartoon people and book 2 is green and yellow with a juggler and a swan on the front).

Here is what i have made for Grade 1 lesson 10:

Concentration Game - remove the squares and give the name and artist of the painting

After doing the listening activities we brainstormed ideas for funny stories and good news, i then asked each group of 3 students to make up one funny story and one bit of good news and played the pass the pencil game. Students then complete the role play and give their story or news.

We also had a chinese whispers game with the guess what sentences.

For the superlatives section, we played the blockbusters game (feel free to change the pictures of me!)

For grade 2 lesson 10 we watched the Where the Hell is Matt video and noted down different countries that they saw.

They then marked 5 or so of those countires onto the map in their book and talked about the weather/climate as an introduction.

We did the listening activities and noted reasons why you may need help, then played the Chinese Whispers game.

Next class we will play taboo in order to practice the Do you mean ...?

Hi Pippo, could you please explain how the Block Busters Game works, I have never used one before or seen it in action.

The basic idea is to select letters and form a chain of your colour squares, either from left to right or from top to bottom.

In this specific game, the students should make a superlative sentance using the picture and information provided in order to take control of the square. Try searching 'blockbusters' on youtube, im sure some useful clips would come up.

Has anyone got anything for grade 2, lesson 12? (The Three dolls). Interesting story, but I'm only doing the conversation part.

As an idea for Grade 1 - Future dreams, they seemed to love watching Britain's got talent performances as an introduction, with questions about the performers dreams. Sue Son got some interest being Korean and Susan Boyle is famous even here. They also liked thinking and telling the class about their own future dreams (with the odd 'host' and 'beggar' thrown in for humor).

Has anyone got anything for this yet? I spend two weeks on each chapter and also only do the conversation page, I did lesson on Guy Fawkes last week because the material in the chapter is [mod edit: not good] (not a folktale I know but its a nice story and it went down well).

This week I felt I should really do something based a bit more closely on the book but the lesson is totally bombing

Somebody please save me or its going to be 45 minutes of hangman!

Pippo - forgive me for being a bit stupid, but how do you change the images of the paintings on the concentration game? i have already created an activity for this chapter (haven't quite finished the lesson yet) but thought i might use the game at the end and wanted to add my paintings to it! i have some of the same as yours, but not all.

the concentration game right?

if you move the yellow boxes to the side you can delete the images from beneath. enter your own image and then right click and select 'move back/behind' until it disappears behind all of the yellow boxes.

I'll also have a crack at grade 2 lesson 12, the three dolls, before the end of this week so will post anything i come up with before the weekend...

Just an idea, but I started off with fairy tales for my advanced group. It was a reading of Rapunzel (minus a lot of the difficult language).

My lesson this week and next for chapter 12, the three dolls, will focus on folktales as well as the question "What kind of ... do you like?"

I have made a ppt using a previous posters ppt as a template and have added information about the legend of King Arthur (the patriotic Brit that I am...)

I will go through the ppt and show a clip from the sword in the stone movie, easily found on youtube, before introducing the target language.

i can see this easily stretching into next weeks class if we get onto korean folktales, as well as opinion surveys etc..

I'm about to start working on my lesson for Grade 1 Lesson 11 and I'm looking for some ideas.

I guess I'm supposed to focus on "Can you do me a favor?" but that sounds so boring.

Any help would be appreciated!

Could you do me a favor is pretty boring but it's a good chance to get them to adapt a role play with their own words, something which I often try to get the students to do but often with limited success. It worked quite well with this lesson though.

I threw in the lend vs borrow slide on a whim halfway through the week because it seemed to be a source of confusion for lots of students and teachers alike.

My slight variation of pippos lesson with a link to the video included, a conversation gap fill and a survey exercise.

Its a lot more sucessful that my original lesson!

My kids are low-level and these review games are very specific to what I taught. Have a look anyway; maybe it will save someone some work. The jeopardy template came from this site-- from Chad, I think. Thanks, Chad!

Hey I've made a review lesson (chapters 10,11 &12) based on sallyafc's Mario game.

It starts with the Mario role plays, made with the characters and sounds taken from sallyafc's mario game.

I get the whole class to listen and repeat them after me, then I give 2 minutes to act out the role play in pairs and try to learn it. I get some voluteers, or victims if no one wants to volenteer to try to act out the role play. If they can do it perfectly they get 2 points for their table if they make some mistakes then 1 point. If a pair is really stuck and won't do it or are very low level I'll let them read it from the slide and give them 1 point.

Then we play the mario game. I've changed a lot of the anitmation becasue I didn't like them amount you have to click. You just have to click to kick the whole thing off, to move on after speech bubbles, to chose questions or return to the question choice screen, pretty much everything else just happens.

Most of the stuff in these lessons is closely based on the textbook (chapters 10,11 &12) but there is some stuff specific to me or my material so check through the questions before using it!

Oh and you'll need to put the Mario Overworld Theme on your desktop, I couldn't get it to embed properly in the files.
