Nanaimo Bars
« on: August 30, 2011, 01:34:56 PM »
I'm a Canadian living in Seoul and would like to know where I can get the ingredients for Nanaimo Bars, especially graham wafers or a suitable replacement.

Nice!! Whereabouts? I've probably been there a million times...I grew up in Victoria and lived in Nanaimo just before I moved to Korea :) (also lived in Campbell River, Kamloops and a few places in Alberta over the years)

If you don't mind paying out the nose for them, the "red door" place listed on this page had them when I went.

Thanks. I'm from Duncan. People just usually pass through, but it's come along way in the last few years.

Graham crumbs are easy to substitute.  Go to the store, buy some similar looking cookies, bring them home and put them in a bag--double bag is best--then stomp on them a few times.

Hey cats - I lived in Vic for the last five years. And my parents moved to Lake Cowichan like two years ago.

Also, this might be the coolest thing I've ever seen. I'm going to romanticize the idea of going into an unmarked door to go buy illicit foodstuffs to the max.

I've seen graham crackers at the foreign food shop in Itaewon and they are pretty cheap as well.

I haven't checked it out yet, but will. I was just in Itaewon the other night and forgot to check for them. My parents have a cabin on Cowichan Lake. When I was growing up I spent every summer there. Great place!
