But good link for those who didn't know about PPT and PPTX. Besides the 'bells and whistles', PPTX is more stable and functional. Also, all the fonts are sleeker and more well designed. That goes for all the new Microsoft formats. It's technology and, like everything else, you should keep everything up to date as much as possible. Plus, its' FREE. You don't need to buy a new version of Powerpoint.
Whether you use PPT or PPTX is irrelevant...but you want your lesson to look good as well as be a functional and informative lesson. 'Sell the sizzle, not the steak' applies, and the meat of your lesson will benefit from a good looking presentation (see what I did there?). There's nothing wrong with those bells and whistles, as long as they look good and deliver a good lesson. I'll be the first to say that half the stuff on Waygook is terrible, and that most of the people here could benefit from a lesson on using PPT effectively. This is a community however, and posting those PPT's online helps those who don't have experience with this kind of workflow. That's crucial with a job like this, and for many people this is their first real job out of school. No experience necessary, right?
I don't think the OP was insisting anyone do anything. Rather, he was providing a solution to a minor problem that many people don't know much about. Plus...how much effort does it take to click a button? If you're too 'holier than thou' for that, then you have some problems and should just quit now (also see what I did there?).
