« on: September 18, 2011, 01:24:47 PM »
Name of Game:  Missing Face

Target Students:  Elementary School, 6 + years old
Duration:  30 minutes
English Skills:  Vocabulary
Objective:  Learn parts of the face by piecing parts together to form whole picture

Pre-Activity:                                                                                                            10-15 Mins

Good Morning class!

--Tape outline of head on board

I brought a friend with me today but something is missing. I need your help to fix my friend. I have some pieces of my friend in this bag and I need you to help me put my friend back together. Who can help me put the first missing piece on?

*Pick student to come and take one piece from bag.

Now place the part where you think it belongs. Great job! Have student sit down. Take out corresponding Label and put beside part. That is right class this is where_____ (insert face part) goes. Can everyone say _______ for me? Have class repeat vocabulary together as well as ask individual students to provide the word.  Now someone else come up and place another missing piece of my friend back on!

*Continue till face is complete

Then review vocabulary when face is complete by asking questions: What are these? What is this called?

Great now that you know the parts of the face we are going to use this to make our own!

Skill:                                  15 Mins

1.   Tell students that they are going to make their own face and label the parts
2.   Give each student a piece of paper with the outline of a head on it and sheet of Labels
3.   Have each students make their face with the cut out shapes and Labels have them use different colours and make their faces as crazy as they like
4.   Have students show them to the class and use the vocabulary to describe what they have drawn. Ask the students to ask questions to each other about the picture. Who has a question about Student X’s face? Guide students to using the vocabulary like: What colour are your eyes? I like your hair...etc.
Great work everyone! You have all made very nice faces. Take them home and describe what you have on your face, remember to use your Labels when you tell your family about your face. Have a good day!
