Recent Rolling Power Outage in Korea--any stories?

The Korean power company blamed the rolling power outtages on bad timing with scheduled maintenance, but I heard a slightly different account that that company didn't account for the unseasonably warmer weather that day and parts of Korea went black for a while.

Where I live we experienced two different power outages.  The lights went out just as one of my classes started.  It was dark and we had to play imprompteau vocabulary games and review for a couple of classes.  I also took one class outside of the classroom to work next to a large window on a worksheet I had planned to use.  Overall, it was not such a bad experience.

I was out at one of my little elementaries in the middle of no where, and I'd just finished teaching my last class of the day, and the computer was shutting down after doing updates. I'd gone down to the staffroom to wait for my car-pool person to finish. We were talking, and she was in the middle of saving 2 pages she'd just finished adding to a document which were addendums. Mid-save -BOOM down goes the power. She was so worried about her file. We couldn't do a thing about it. The handy-men were running around the school checking all the powerboxes and were perplexed as to why the power went out.

I'm just thankful that the students were in Orchestra class at the time. Or there would have been screaming students as well as the female staff at the school.

Why do Korean women scream when lights go out? Its not like it was dark or anything.

On the way home, I received a 'public service' notice which read

"[Public Service]
[Emergency Management Agency Disaster Situation Room]
nationwide power outage occurred in some areas, please refrain from using the elevator and all nine devices"

Well... that's what Google Translate throws up when I put it into translate. I had a bit of a laugh and then headed home to find that my town wasn't effected by the powercut at all. So I was able to use the elevator to get up to my apartment... all the time praying that no power outage would occur while I was in the elevator.
"It's better to have tried and failed, than never to have tried at all!"
Teach this to your students... they'll thank you for it later!

Yeah, I know... I was in E-mart when the power went out... You should have have the ajumma's scream when semi-kind of-darkness descended! I thought it was pretty cool, actually...

I also experienced those last week...I was at home but since I only have two windows that get outside light and it was evening, I actually stubbed my toe pretty badly looking for my mini flashlight. Next time, it's going right next to the door!
I also heard some kids screaming.  :P

Busted! The kids in my school use the elevator. I don't care personally but I'd love to see them get caught.
In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act.

We are not "guests" in Korea. Korea didn't invite us over for Pimms in the garden. We are paid employees.
